I’m going to take off my jade-colored sckepticals for a second and say that was actually quite lovely.

I clicked on this article ready to hate it. I have to say though... we agree almost entirely. I would say the Enterprise A is my favorite, overall.

I also appreciate the work that went into justifying the placements. This is the kind of list that’s asking for nerd rage.

I’ll add to your “not shopping around” point and suggest checking ebay as well.

I find that buying last year’s device (or even one just a few months old) results in a 40-50% price drop vs. buying it new. And these days, last year’s device works just fine for my needs.

Also, if the phone/laptop/smartwatch/whatever been

Not sure about that 3P0 concept... “WITNESS ME, Master Luke!!”

As you say that it occurs to me that the movie never explained how the first order was tracking them through hyperspace. I thought for sure they had a mole on board... but it was never addressed. They even said it was technically impossible. Weird that they would throw that out and NEVER come back to it.

One of my biggest frustrations with this movie was the missed opportunity to fill us in on Snoke and the first order. I gave it a pass in TFA because I thought they were building up to it. Nope, he’s just a random sith lord. Super lazy story telling.

I like what you have to say and would like to subscribe to your newsletter.

Seriously though, I think we have the exact same thoughts about this movie. I would also add Luke’s death was a bit ham-fisted. So, what, he died of a Jedi aneurysm? Lame.

I was going to comment the same thing. Microphones exist in our phones, tablets and laptops. They’re also prone to hacking and bugs. Some people in my office even put tape over the webcam because they think it’s watching them when it isn’t supposed to. At this point, we have to accept some privacy risk if we want to

Okay, now I need a Weird Al parody of Apple and Britney Spears: Baby One More Thing. “My new OS is killing me...”

At this point, are companies using DOS more secure than those using a modern OS? I mean, that strategy worked for Galactica...

I loved this book. I enjoyed how its source of conflict kept changing. It would make a great mini-series.

And let’s not forget the possibility for Nintendo 3DS emulation.

My time in Netflix is about 80% browsing and 20% giving up and watching re-runs of Star Trek TNG.

Yep. And that’s one of the things that sets TNG apart from DS9. You can jump into just about any episode TNG on Netflix and follow along. You can’t really do that with DS9, but the trade-off is a stronger story arc for DS9 and its characters.

Agreed. I also think it would be a great strategy for gyms to use on their own. Rewarding customers for coming in would be a great way to get people in shape (and keep their memberships).

The AR stuff is really intriguing to me. I almost switched from iPhone to Samsung over the Galaxy VR... so I’m really hopeful Apple embraces something similar one day.

A friend of mine owned this and I only played it a few times. The anxiety was REAL.

There’s a metaphor about America in there somewhere. I’ll report back when I’ve found it.

My town is in the path of totality. Schools are closed that day... it’s going to be nuts. That’s why I made this local’s guide to the eclipse (that, and I was bored).
