I would have thought “Pretentious” was the word for Apple.
Do you guys not have a graphics person or artist or whatever that could’ve written this review? I mean, when having someone review a product, it’s a good idea to pick someone for whom the product might actually be targeted, like maybe an actual artist or modeler, so that the important features actually get the…
This simply reminds me of the $1000 Pixelbook.
Somewhat related: this fall my sister started a dual master’s in business & public health program. She has a Samsung Notebook 9 that I helped her pick out a year and a half ago which she still loves because it’s so light at a little under 2 lbs. But she told me that for some reason the business school requires…
As I said before, in a price comparison, this thing costs more or less the same as a MacBook Pro, and has the bonus of better graphics and a touchscreen.
Exactly.
pretentious for being too functional and too powerful in relation to similarly priced devices, apparently.
Target market are the designers that do this for very big coin. Not most people and definitely not you since you don’t even realize they exist. This is the computing equivalent of a $200 drill. Almost nobody needs a $200 drill. But the carpenter that spends 5 days a week constructing houses has a very strong business…
This review literally criticizes a device for being too powerful and too functional in relation to a similarly priced, functionally limited product. What in the damn hell is going on here.
Why not (hate) both?
Came here to say pretty much the same thing, though I intended to be a bit more...offensive.
Is ‘pretentious’ a code word for ‘not-Apple’? I mean, I can see that Surface Book 2 is a very well designed and functional computer design, but if it lacks the courage to omit a headphone jack we clearly can’t give it a pass.
Who the hell is this for?
People who are experiencing cognitive dissonance after realizing that maybe their MacBook pro is outclassed in every possible way by this thing
The price tag is pretty much on par with the Macbook Pro but you get marginally better hardware across the board. Even the prices on the 13" models are fairly close. That said, I’d argue that the hardware differences are insignificant, with the exception of the detachable touchscreen of course. So the decision here…
That’s the exception not the rule. As Blockheads was asking, the “standard” is 1 year, even Apple only trusts their Macbooks with 1 year, so what is your point?
Not sure what fantasy world you live in but the vast majority of PC’s have 1 year warranties.
So everyone complains about the price, and yet they forget that Macbook Pro is priced equally absurd. At least Surfacr Book gives you touchscreen and a removable screen which makes it more advanced than the Macbook Pro. So who is for? Same type of people who use windows but want equally premium hardware as those…
I have a work-issued Surface Book and love it. I use the pen constantly, as it has made what I do much more efficient. That being said, when lounging around on the couch i still go to my iPad to surf around.
