What I’ve come to find from all the replies is everyone who agrees with me has a good relationship with their mechanic or at least won’t worry until actual damage is done. Personally I am in both camps.

That’s what I figured. A friend of mine told me his practice for dealing with bad businesses and it’s one I’ve come to live by: Vote with your wallet. I have never complained and never fought someone over a bill. I also never went back. These businesses that screw people end up taking care of themselves eventually.

Is it actually worth it to try and do anything if you realize your mechanic is screwing you, or should you just get a new mechanic? For this hypothetical let’s say your loss is under $1,000.
