I'd agree. Felony level reckless endangerment charges would be appropriate. POSSIBLY some kind of an attempted assault charge based on the mens rea to wreck the bike. Trying to prove an intent to KILL is sort of a prosecutorial non-starter in my opinion.

I will add a caveat. Japanese is usually safe but for GOD’S SAKE NOT A NISSAN....

Right, because that's what 99% of law enforcement officers do every day.... You don't live in a remotely populous area do you?

Eloquently put but again, you’re painting an impossibly idealist picture. You say cops should arrest someone for calling you a n****r. They’d certainly deserve it but the fact is in America we don’t arrest ANYONE for simply calling someone ANYTHING. it’s an unintended consequence of the First Amendment. The flip side

While your sentiment is Noble and reasonable, it’s also not really possible. The unfortunate reality is that even racist speech or overtly racist gestures aren’t criminal unless they’re part of an actual criminal offense.

When I said “calling the cops on the cops” I didn’t mean literally. I was referring to civilian complaints. Every one of these pieces of shit can be counted on to allege all kinds of things when the police don’t do their bidding.

Actually, I don’t think you really need more than the first question...

I’m going to respectfully disagree with the second half of your response. Asserting that you can essentially call a 911 complainant a dumbass (in nicer words) is sort of indicative of someone who isn’t in a profession where everyone who doesn’t get the answer they want makes a civilian complaint about you.

That would never fly. People feel victimized when they get lawfully issued traffic tickets for observed violations. You think anyone would stand for a cop telling them the emergency they invented in their heads was such bullshit that it constitutes a legal summons?

This isn’t how 911 works. Unfounded complaints and unnecessary response jobs are not criminal unless the caller KNOWS that they were not supposed to call and basically admits that they either a) lied about the circumstances to the call taker to evoke a more expeditious response or b) called specifically to harass

As one of the people that gets to respond to nonsense like this, I can tell you from reasonably extensive experience that the phenomenon of “It’s an emergency to me!” Is rampant just about anywhere that ISN’T plagued by legitimate street crime. I’d estimate that about 50% of the calls for service (regarding disputes

That’s fair.

The reality of this situation sits squarely between the “traffic enforcement is slavery!” And the “well just don’t get tickets!” camps. Neither one is objectively correct and neither one is objectively incorrect.

There needs to be more Seiko, Orient and Hamilton on this list. If you’re including stuff for 4-500 in the “inexpensive” category, there are a ton of Japanese and even a few legit Swiss automatic watches that I think have more “Jalop/mechanical nerd” appeal than most of the quartz stuff on this list.

This is high for a C5. You can get a nice earlier C6 with a heads/cam or blower set up done by a reputable shop for $25k.

I’m pretty sure the LIRR’s slogan is “.....We might show up at some point. Unless it’s snowing...or raining....or there are clouds...or sun...”

She will. I would bet my paycheck on it. This person’s M.O. is to inconvenience anyone she doesn’t like because it gives her some kind of sick catharsis.

Statistically, this is the way this usually goes. The only reason it seems like news is because most of the time there’s nothing worth recording and posting on the internet.

Rational, but utterly impossible to prosecute. You can’t prove beyond a reasonable doubt that A) she knowingly fabricated her concern and B) that said false concern was racially motivated.

That’s primarily because there’s no reason to record statistical normity.
