I think I read somewhere (Reddit?!?) that there was some legal factor in having to be released in theaters. But I might just be repeating gossip also.

I don’t know if it will—I’m in the Midwest. I have seen many universities start to go away from some of the standardized tests, however, but I am a bit cynical about why that is. My beliefs on the matter:
I don’t mind them. Students are asked to do much more analysis than I was (I had access to a scientific calculator). I can teach quite a bit more math with some of the tools that calculators have, whereas I would be stuck looking for watered down contrived examples if students didn’t have access to them.
The SAT…
Take it for what you will, I read it a few months ago on the math education subreddit from a linked article that another user posted. The article looked legit, but I won’t claim it was authoritative. That said, several of my AP Calc students took the AP exam online from home this year, and a calculator wasn’t really…
I hope it means we go away from needing them on those standardized tests. As a math teacher, those tests are the only reason I keep recommending them to students—there are lots of free, online alternatives that do just as good a job and could save students an embarrassingly over priced $100 to $120 that they could…
I need to catch up on this season of Legends! I have about 6 episodes sitting on the DVR right now. Gotta finish off this school year so I have some free time.
Cool star destroyers and awsome x-wings,
I checked in for the free month trial they have to offer, so I am sure that expanded their user base.
I also was salivating over watching Picard. I thoroughly enjoyed it.
Currently watching the Twilight Zone.
I will probably drop it when my trial runs out, but I am getting ready to start juggling services where I…
Yeah...sorry—there were a few jokes in there that I wasn’t too clear on.
An “OLD” is exactly what you thought it was...just a particularly poor way to say, “I am getting old,” by calling myself an OLD [person].
“He is the human who wishes he lacked free will like a host to excuse his terrible actions.”
I think this is such a great comment.
That would make my training as an OLD complete, but first I must head to Cloud City and try to save my friends.
I feel like the math I teach is important, but it is secondary to taking care of students. I am not perfect by any means of the imagination, but I do try my best. It has been 24 years now-I hope to last for another 15 years or so, unless I get too crabby.
I am a firm believer that one of the worst things we can do to…
That was the only thing I bought last year.
I’ll second that. I loved those books. I can’t find them all right now, but I think that is because my kids have been reading them.
I agree with you. There are SO many reasons why what students are doing now is NOT homeschooling. I don’t know what a lot of states/districts are doing, but we have been advised in my district (and state) to be aware that participation remotely will most likely be less than what we think.
And I say this as a district…
It has been a long time, but I am pretty sure they had those nose things in the books too. I vaguely remember reading about marks left by them because they had been there so long.
I am just going off memory, so I will gracefully be corrected if I am wrong.
I won’t disagree with you, because I think it may greatly depend upon what level of student you are teaching.
I am a high school math teacher, and I don’t think many of the kids in my class for struggling students are getting much support from home except for parents asking kids to stay on top of what I provide (which…
Ugh. So that is a big bummer. A great deal of people will still be left out in the cold as far as forbearing repayment goes.
I am way past this now, but aren’t a ton of student loans now privately held?
Agreed. I will be 47 this year. Sequels like The Hobbit weren’t that great, but I really enjoyed spending some extra time in Middle Earth.
I enjoyed spending some time in the Star Wars universe again, I enjoyed spending more time in the new Ghostbuster’s world (even though it was more of a reboot).
They aren’t all great…
