That, and I have a feeling they don’t want to show the opening animations until the TARDIS is back in play.

She really brings the 10th vibes for me. And I loved Tennant.

Don’t forget that Kira had a major crush on Thomas Riker... and that he kind of put her life in jeopardy.  That would be interesting to bring back...

I usually have to watch Doctor Who with the subtitles on, and that certainly will continue with Jodie Whittaker as the lead. That is fine with me though, the show’s aggressive Britishness has always been a fundamental part of its appeal. A female doctor is fine with me, more than fine. The one thing I could not accept

It was very much an intro to new audiences episode, so the plot itself was only so-so. Clearly most of the attention was devoted to delivering information and character without resorting to an actual exposition dump.

I loved Twelve, even though he was screwed over by Moffat in a lot of ways. But I am all in with Thirteen.

Twelve will always be “my” Doctor, but Thirteen is magnificent.

Yes! She was pretty much the Doctor as soon as she was on-screen...and then she had her whole “regeneration” monologue, which she just nailed.

I have to say, she is easily the most likeable Dr. that we’ve had in a while. Capaldi, Smith and Tennant took a while to warm up to. But Jodie, is so cheery and just lights up the screen. I can’t understand a word she’s saying, but that’s beside the point.

She was still in the act of regenerating. We saw the energy still coming off her later in the episode. The Doctor has already grown a limb back during a regeneration episode, so there is a precedent.

The episode was okay, introducing a mildly interesting, nasty new alien villain. The main selling point was definitely introducing Jodie Whittaker as the doctor and in that respect it was a smashing success, she already fully embodies the doctor’s manic aggression but also deep kindness.

Was the episode itself any good?  The writing, the plot, etc.

You could hear a little bit of the theme song when the new Doctor first appeared on screen but that’s as close to an intro as we got.

Yeah no opening, I assume they wanted to get right to the action this time and save that for next.

Jodie was so amazing. I was optimistic before, but damn.

I appreciate BBCA putting it on here in the US at the same time. As well as the *many* repeats. But man, so many commercials.

The mid-season break last year seemed like a calculated to stretch out the amount of time folks needed to stay subscribed to All Access. This year, I think they’re attempting to use the Short Treks to do the same thing. All things being equal “More Content” is definitely a better solution than “Drip, Drip.”

Exactly. 00 Agents out the wazoo and we only ever get glimpses of them. I don’t know why they don’t do it, I don’t think it infringes anything from the Fleming Estate to do so. I’d be okay with an M and Q stand-alone too.

Speaking to Trek Core at New York Comic Con, Alex Kurtzman confirmed that there will be no midseason break for the show’s second season.”
