How the hell did that movie become a franchise...let alone one with a TV show. who keeps going to see these movies?

Your avatar/image/whatever they call the little picture in the circle...is bloody awesome.
The crewed vessel is launched before the tanker because if that is the case 1 tanker can perform all 5 or so fuel tanker missions, where if you place the tankers in orbit first, you need 5 spacecraft. Of course this makes it all dependent of SpaceX delivering as yet unheard of reusability and turnaround time, but…
Well there are definitely asteroids containing metal oxides. as far as nitrogen, we’d have to see what we could get. Sure capturing a comet sounds like a pretty colossal feat until you realize we’re talking about a project as colossal as terraforming an entire planet. Compared to building an entirely new planetary…
thing is that magnetic thinning takes millions of years. restarting the magnetic field would probably be one of the last things to happen, if it happens at all. You could just as easily find your self a nitrogen/oxygen rich asteroid every decade or so and dismantle it into the atmosphere.
You just made an aerospace robotics joke. I didn’t even think you could do that. Someone get this man a medal.
Short answer? Somewhat crazy, but nearly as crazy as it looks.
I want a Clarkson GPS voice that insults me when I miss a turn.
It’s not like they let the reactor melt down or something. They just shut it down. We just wait until the ice uncovers enough of it to make it easily accessible, pluck it out of there, remove the fuel rods and chuck it in a museum somewhere. I’d be more worried about actual toxic waste from the machine shop.
It was basically a a poorly conceived hybrid of X-files and Burn notice.
in his defense thats pretty much how everything gets done these days.
where my engineers at?
The Raptor engine is a real physical thing that works. So are the proof of concept for booster reliability we’ve seen in the falcon 9 landings. Sure it’s a long way off, but it’s a lot farther than most people are when the make a declaration of intent like this. from a technological standpoint, the peices are there.
Okay yeahn E was the one I was thinking of. The one that came after the one from the TNG series.
I enjoyed this movie, as it was way better than the two that came before it, but I agree, the villain wasn’t so much poorly defined as he was not really defined at all. The whole plot rovolves around a little mcguffin that nobody really explains. everything that happens is fun but they really just don’t ever bother…
Seriously, what are we up to, Enterprise F at this point?
Maybe they just made Data the entire night crew because screw 3rd shift.
Good. Lets build some damn super-crops
I giggle at pretty much anything that uses “smashers” as a collective noun.
Yeah almost as offensive as some version of this costume without the skin, which would then be offensive for whitewashing. It’s like the kobayashi maru...or is it cultural appropriation to reference something from star Trek that sounds Japanese?
I drive a 2013 volt and can second this. It’s a solid car. Back row seating could use a little extra room, but solid quality throughout. good build quality and reliability compared to my previous Toyota (Which I adore to this day, god rest his zombie bones).
