Not disagreeing, just adding that the causal link is broken both ways, because some SUVs can’t baby.

The point is that we need a shift in mentality, where drivers understand the danger they pose to meatbag pedestrians instead of thinking that meatbag pedestrians should solely protect themselves.
I have curly butt hairs on my feet too, and I never had any skin graft.. :/
Hey Michael, I guess I have been out of the loop on this whole Baby Ballaban situation. Congratulations, and thank you for writing this article. You made an interesting piece out of an otherwise dreadful car (I assume, I won’t get close enough to find out).
Except some SUVs suck at babying. Our friends bought an Explorer, assuming it could baby, but because Ford had to crap a 3rd row in there, the 2nd row (where the baby went) was uncomfortably close to the first row when a rear facing seat was installed.
You can still drive a fun car, but your examples of a 2+2 and a 2 seater aren’t good ones. The “make my wife drive the kids around” solution isn’t really an equitable one. And if you are driving your wife’s car more than your fun car, guess what....you drive a boring dad car.
Jalopnik does a good job of covering a variety of topics, and for those of us who have kids and care that they have a place to sit in our cars, articles like this are a way to explore the intersections of car enthusiasm and parenthood.
Yeah, but two door coupes aren’t ugly AF. All of these hunchback CUVs are hideous.
Came here for this. The Pedant in me is strong.
Late reply, but I don’t know what area you are in, but I would assume in SoCal he is mostly snowboarding at Ski Resorts, with paved roads and parking lots... He just thinks he needs 4WD to handle a little bit of snow in between plowings.
I would assume he is talking about a 4th Gen not being under 10k. 6500 for a 3rd gen sounds like a lot, but I haven’t looked lately...
mmm, It looks too much like a boring BMW 3-series wagon.
That must be why it smells so bad!
The answer here is obvious:
I can’t honestly say that I hated that song, but not once did it occur to me that it was a Rock song. Definitely Folk/pop.
I do think we need to understand that “Rock” as a category is much wider than we think it is and has changed considerably over the decades but we never need to let “Ho Hey” enter that…
Yeah, but I appreciate the quirky usefulness of the cars I listed. I bought a stick shift element recently, and it’s honestly, one of my favorite cars now.
The Mercedes is a very useful and safe choice, but it’s not very Jalop and imagining the Accord as anything but a sedan, makes my brain eyes bleed. It’s a very…
How do you think they should be priced? These big luxo-trucks are already pretty damn expensive if you ask me.
Now this is a list I can get behind
Yeah but the current gen Civic looks like butt.
I really like the Accord, but I think it would look horrible as a wagon. Also the accord is a much bigger car than a Golf-wagen.
