Disgraceful for democracy both for the lack of turnout and lack of options — I’ve had a hell of a time finding out much of anything about his opponents, except Draiman, whose platform seems to consist entirely of looking at problems and shouting “MORE BUSINESS” at them. I dislike hearing things like Garcetti saying,

I kept scrolling and scrolling and it just got worse and worse. I felt like I was taking crazy pills. “Trump SCHOOLED the rotten media!!!” It reminded me of Eddie Izzard on the National Anthem:

They scream about “identity politics,” but have created their own version of it, which is why guys like Rand Paul run around decrying the idea of Republicans investigating Republicans. The hypocrisy is deep, and the more it is pointed out, the more they shout.

He looked pretty good in the preseason, got hurt, and hasn’t played since.

Hell, it might be even more on the nose than that, because Pittsburgh has done it twice: last year, and in 2009, when they won the Cup after the mid-season firing of... Michel Therrien!

I agree in principle, but the problem is that if anyone with a D next to their name said the same thing, they’d be strung up in the town square. The hypocrisy is wretch-inducing.

I love TO because when SF tried to send him to the Ravens, he said “fuck no.” An honorable man.

This is the truth. When I see her byline, I always click.

A couple years ago Paul was out for an extended period, and Blake started to get MVP talk for play like this. The guy can handle the rock, and I think that part of his game is underrated (understandably so, when Paul is the starting point guard). The Clippers flaming out in the playoffs the last few years has really

I remember Hirojima; do you? It’s D-Day all over again, baby.

I particularly like the wording: “The president went out of his way...” as if it were some big sacrifice on his part. Though given his usual level of empathy, I suppose it was.

Oh, cool, now the story gets to be “liberal media tries to denigrate Paul Ryan’s character” instead of “hollow, amoral suit spouts vacuous party-line bullshit.” Fantastic.

Well, to be fair, the candidate who finished with fewer votes, but who had “the right votes,” did win the general.

Yeah, even from a totally amoral business-oriented view-point, the whole thing seems like a win. Good PR, increased sales, special pricing on old merch, as you mention... It’s weird to have no loyalties to anything but the almighty dollar in every case except this one.

People would grumble, and there’d be a vocal minority who would claim that they will abandon the team for kowtowing to the PC Police, but ultimately any controversy would blow over and the people bitching would just quietly go back to supporting the Cleveland Spiders, or the Cleveland Lake Birds, or whatever. That was my absolute first thought: “You know, whatever. Get rid of Melo, clear cap space, build around Porzingis. Defensible!” But then, yeah, I look at that contract, and...

Steelers fans are morons. I say this as a Steelers fan. I’m a moron.

I don’t know, it kind of seemed to me that Tommy Lee Jones was having a ball, getting a chance to do something a little different from his norm. Batman Forever is not a good movie, but I always dug Jones’s performance for that reason. Goofy? Sure, but the movie itself is ridiculous.
