They went on hiatus and retooled a lot, fired some writers, brought in more. Unfortunately, they did this right as the original writers were finding their stride. The last episode before the hiatus was probably the strongest of the series.

Which is why it’s the only cop show I like, the rest of them come off as propaganda to me.
