OK, his top is patently ridiculous, but she looks sensational in this dress.

Thank you. This was wonderful, and a good piece of wisdom for those of us working toward that brilliant grand jeté, or even just a few decent dance steps.
Except that that is not how the average reader takes in information. Most people read the header. If it interests them, they read the lead paragraph. Very few read the entire article. So using misleading headlines does more to misinform than create interest in an article.
I think you're thinking of the Sun, not the Star.
Elan Gale! That was beautiful. I'm still laughing. I feel like that's the kind of tribute the Ol' Salty Broad herself would have appreciated.
Mandatory.
You're in America; why the hell are you speaking English? http://www.cogsci.indiana.edu/farg/rehling/n…
Because small business owners don't have a large communication budget and are often willing to work with someone who has the education but not the experience. Small contracts usually involve creating advertorial copy, coordinating with designers and photographers to create brochures, creating social media strategies…
Go make your dreams come true!
One more piece of advice if you do go that route - research freelance rates and know what your market will bear. I had adjustable rates when dealing with non-profits, for example, but if I was doing consulting work for politicians, I made them pay top dollar. I had an hourly rate that was very close to my daily rate…
You're welcome. That was the route I took, by the way, and it paid off in spades. I actually made pretty decent money at it in the first nine months before I was headhunted by an organization that gave me a solid position with benefits. And that job turned into an even better one. And when it came time to list…
Consult. Call yourself a contractor, get a small business license, create a website and business cards and connect with other small business owners. Get little contracts doing communication/PR work for them. Build your clientele and your reputation. If you have a home-based business, you can write off a portion of…
There was a time in Jezebel's history when the rampant body snarking that any story about Kim Kardashian now draws was swiftly and decisively shouted down, when the woman-on-woman bullshit such as the comments in this thread were called out by commenters and editors alike.
RIP Jezebel of Christmases Past. We didn't…
Fantastic. Thank you for the link. And you just said a mouthful regarding oral traditions. I filmed my thesis because I wanted to capture the storytelling as it was meant to be: dynamic, symbiotic, in-real-time, and descriptive of a living and evolving culture. If I were to pursue my doctorate, I would be very…
Oh, you have my attention! I'd like to hear more about the conferences you are involved with. I did my thesis with a First Nation community exploring their creation stories and how they connected to the reclaiming and maintenance of traditional knowledge, language and culture. I've attended a few different conferences…
Yes, or Indigenous.
It's important to note that all of these terms can be contentious as well among individual groups. Some bands, including the Okanagan Indian Band, reject the term "First Nations" because there are certain treaty associations that go along with it and they (and all B.C. Aboriginal people) live in…
"A pet peeve of mine is when family members can't put their phone down at dinner tables,it's so rude.It irks me. Sorry had to vent.U feel me?"
Yes. So much worse than passive aggressively tweeting to several thousand followers.
Yup. While it may be true that it takes a village to raise a child, our society truly thinks that it takes a village to incubate one. Why everyone feels the need to get involved in a woman's pregnancy (from her decision about whether to continue one until the moment that child is weaned—too early or too late) is…
