A friend lives on a busy road and has packages go missing all the time. I told them to remove all identifying information from their boxes, and fill them with garbage. Use the thieves as a trash removal service.

It may have been useful if Digital River did something like this themselves before releasing the domain, redirecting everyone to a website letting them know that their clients really need to update their sites. Maybe it should become standard practice in the future.

Everything you just said is exactly why I switched from mac. Windows XP Tablet Edition was awesome, and in all this time Apple not only hasn’t caught up, they’ve repeatedly promised to never release a touchscreen computer. The ipad is a giant phone, and not at all what I want.

I’m still a big fan of HTPCs. They can stream any service and play any format. I prefer a full-sized computer hooked up to my TV at home, but use an Intel ComputeStick on-the-go.

I hit a point a couple years ago when I realized Windows had touchscreens and pens for a decade, and that’s what I wanted in a computer. No, an ipad doesn’t count, it’s a large phone, not a small computer.

You just made the perfect argument for piracy. You want to offer a more than reasonable amount of money for something but it’s not available. It is however free and easy to torrent. Thankfully I was able to buy the region 1 DVD’s in 2009 for $29.

My insurance company requires prostate exams every 1o years. Does this screening count towards that?

You found the sex scene horrible... in a horror book. Seems about right to me.

Equifax hasn’t exactly been forthcoming with hack details. For all we know the pin numbers for all their users were leaked. You may want to change yours.

I have a home theater PC set up with a silicondust tuner and NextPVR software. OTA quality is usually better than streaming and I can always skip commercials. I prefer a HTPC because there’s nothing it can’t do: It will stream any service (web browser) and watch any file format (VLC).

A reenactment is a type of visual aid. It has the same value as taking pictures or making a model of a crime scene. It gives jurors a better understanding of the crime scene and the crime than a few spoken words. It’s only immoral if officers pretend it was recorded during the crime itself (or discovery of evidence),

The difference between fabricating and recreating is the context. In both case you create the evidence. If you claim it was made by others it’s a fabrication, if you claim you made it to better illustrate evidence it’s a recreation.

I knew someone that was trying to donate eggs. She has a family history of schizophrenia, alcoholism, and cancer. She didn’t believe any of that would be passed on (despite all the research I showed her proving each of those conclusively) so she didn’t bother telling the agency. They did 0 research, they didn’t check

I bought a pack that was the best reviewed and most recommend ones on Amazon. The glasses said American Paper Optics (a legitimate company) and ISO 12312-2. They seemed to work fine. The problem is they’re not the shape or style of anything on APO’s website. Uncertified forgeries doesn’t necessarily mean bad, but I

FYI: I tried downloading one for offline browsing and so I have a local copy in case the server vanishes. March 1952 pdf was 58MB, and took a while to download. The other formats (epub, txt, daisy, mobi) were around 1MB, OCR’d with many (expected) glitches. The torrent file they link to is 116MB. It downloads quickly

Thanks, that’s exactly what I was coming to the comments to say.

Does anyone know of a web-based alternative for Firefox? It’s just been buggy for me lately.

I clean out everything pinned to the start menu when I set up a computer. What’s left is exactly what I want. I also uninstall all crapware, so my applications menu is mildly tidy. In short, I agree.
