Organic lettuce is a couple bucks pound. There are no almonds or soybeans in Hawaii. At least not enough to produce milk on any sort of commercial scale. (Any soybeans grown here are likely grown by Monsanto or DuPont for seed to be sold elsewhere) There are cow and goat dairies in the islands though.

It’s a problem with a lot of variables, but it’s mostly an economic issue. For the most part, there is enough land, water, and the right climate to produce food. However, most of the farmland is owned by the old pineapple and sugar companies who are now more interested in real estate, and when they were in operation

Maybe not agencies, but most of the people I know who work in law enforcement are full on trump supporters. Taking sides with the q people is more of a slight shuffle than a giant leap.

Sorry. I sometimes get a little overzealous pointing out when trivia tidbits are wrong (especially local legends and corporate creation myths). Sake in the US dates back over 100 years and SakeOne has only been in operation since the 1990s.

I think it is closed now, but they even had a location in Tokyo at one point.

A few years ago, my friend’s dog got into some baked goods that another friend had made. The dog slept for like 18 hours but was fine afterwards. For the rest of the summer, any time the baker was around, the dog was right at their heels following everywhere they went.

SakeOne is not the first legal sake brewery in the US by a long shot. They do make great stuff though.

It really depends on what you’re wanting to do and what the seasonality of the place is like, but in general this is good advice for those without school age children. Hit the low season up and get discounts when the kids are back in school but the weather is still nice.

Limited vacation time and it’s an extra day off? Kid’s activities/sports take the week off for the holiday? Not advocating for it, but I can see reasons why some people would take vacation those times.

Muffuletta might fall into the category of things that are typically better to buy than make that a post yesterday discussed. Sure, you might make a better one at home, but I’m not here for overnight marination for sandwich parts.

Yeah, not sure why this is a thing that needs to be told to adults?

Thanks. The ginger dressing really is an underrated highlight of good Japanese restaurants.

I like your beer recommendations, but I’d add Old Town and Hopworks Urban Brewery.

Afuri and Pine State Biscuits are awesome. Haven't been to Bollywood Theater, but based on your other recommendations, I should give it a try.

Really good craft beer > really good home brew > decent craft > macro > average to bad homebrew.

Justin Blackmon was another lower rated recruit who won the Biletnikoff award, twice. Gundy and company have done well with finding the underrecruited guys and developing talent, but you still prefer the 4s and 5s if you can get em.

The Modern Times brewery has a pretty good vegan menu as well. At least I, a total carnivore, enjoyed it.

So, salt n straw? Please tell me more.

I’ve been corrected on the proper pronunciation of so many place names around Portland that I’m starting to think that it was a big inside joke that got out of control. Like, locals started messing with transplants and tourists by telling them things like Couch is pronounced “Cooch” and now the transplants continue

I thought I was the only one who thought salt & straw was just overrated. The flavor combinations are interesting, but the ice cream itself trends towards mediocre.
