The podcast is epic!!!
Right, so selling organs off to the point of only having a tongue and brain left in some kind of robotic casing is unimaginative?
Woah, what a brutal read. The moment I realized what “valuables” was a dark one...and then that slow realization of how selfishly her body parts were sold off, and how little of her was left...yikes! I also liked all the hints about the world she left behind, like the America Great Corporation.
Listened to this one over my lunch break. Well written, but very bleak.
I’ve been a gigantic fan of John Grant’s writing for many years. His work with Joe Dever novelizing the Lone Wolf books is one of the reasons I’m such an avid fantasy reader today. Keep up the amazing work, John!
Wow. After this, I’m going to need something comparatively cheery and uplifting. Now, where did my copy of The Road go?
Finally, a great story in lightspeed. Properly original and fun. Love it.
Now that was some wicked prose. I particularly liked “..but had not mastered avoiding punches to his face.”
Is it just me or is that a painting of Freema Agyeman?
That was actually great
That was pretty good!
The teabagging and the teamkilling and the pointless bunnyhopping at the end... yeah, it couldn’t be any more blatant :)
Part-way through, I got the sense that the Petty Officer was training a replacement; getting him accustomed to the killing, and having squad members die around him.
Accurate! If you read the interview with the author on Lightspeed’s website, he says the story is straight FPS parody.
So I think someone played too much Halo.
