I did not realize it was possible to have a hot take on something that was 17 years old.

This is dumb. There was controversy over Widow’s story line in AoU, sure. But Whedon was the first person to get the character at all right - Widow in The Avengers is worlds above Widow in Iron Man 2.
“This was especially noticeable in Age of Ultron, where Black Widow’s primary source of conflict was feeling like a monster because she couldn’t have children”
I don’t know if I’m in a minority, but I feel like Ghostbusters 2 is pretty unfairly maligned. I saw it in the theaters when I was 4, liked it, but then heard for 20+ years how it was horrible, and just assumed that was the case.
Then last year I watched it from my Blu-Ray two pack, and I really enjoyed it. It’s…
The Joker sings this song in the original comic. Many of Moore’s works have songs in them (V for Vendetta has two, one of which comes complete with sheet music); it’s an interest of his ever since he was in a band in his youth.
Irv Kershner credited Mark Hamill’s interaction with Yoda as crucial to the success of ESB. If Mark hadn’t been able to sell the audience on Yoda being a real, living character, nothing else would’ve matter and the movie would’ve failed. Personally, I think Mark Hamill’s Dagobah performance is often seriously…
Well I can see Cameron’s point. Say what you will about the plot or lack thereof, the prequel trilogy had some amazing visuals. George was definitely trying to do something new and inventive and not repeat the story beats of the OT. I may not have loved it but I can respect the attempt.
I enjoy watching depressing commentary on the state of our society, religious or otherwise. Cf: Breaking Bad, Orphan Black, The Americans, Preacher, The Walking Dead, Person of Interest, and any number of other shows.
Please stop with the shipping. It was cute at first, but now its getting a bit annoying.
When Alderaan was destroyed, WHERE WAS LEIA?
NOT WITH HER PEOPLE!
How did he mishandle her? By actually giving her the same desire/regret that countless women from the dawn of time have had — being a mother/not being able to be a mother. My wife was really stressed out when we had problems getting pregnant with our first. I double-fucking-dog dare you to call her less of a feminist.…
SFDebris has reviewed a good chunk of Voyager.
I think he’s a decent writer that shouldn’t be allowed to actually run anything. His small stories are good. But when he tries to do anything with real scope, it falls apart.
And if I made this same comment about a woman there’d be a series of threatening comments here longer than the great wall of China bashing me as a sexist MRA misogynist neckbeard rapist monster.
Are you implying that Astonoshing Xmen isn't one of the best Xmen run of all time? Because that would be false.
Counterpoint: No it doesn’t.
While historically that is often the case, it’s still an assumption at this point. I’m not defending the ridiculous policies behind casting in Hollywood, but it’s a bit unfair to the actor to assume he wasn’t selected on merit.
Is it worse than the “Asian guy must know martial arts” stereotype?
You’re kidding yourselves about the “large part of the fanbase bit.” Tumblr in particular helps create little bubbles of shippers who don’t realize that outside of that bubble their ship is not that popular.
So, I have an honest question...Let’s take the new Ghostbusters movie...if every actor in there was black/asian/Latina with whatever your dream cast is, do you think it makes more money than the version as currently cast?
