My parents always used fake trees. It was nice because my dad would put it together and shape it, and then let us decorate it. I have my own fake tree now, and I have to do the pain-in-the-ass stuff myself. After being crammed in that box for a year, it’s a mis-shapen fuckfest. 

And it wasn’t from keeping a dirty house, because my house is clean. I wanted to reiterate that.

I have a fake tree and live in Florida, and even with a fake tree you can have infestations. I store it in a box in an outdoor closet. One year I put it up and decorated it, and two days later I had a roach infestation. True story.

I was excited when I found one at a Hampton in Tampa. We had to evacuate to get out of Matthew’s warpath. Having to be stuck in a hotel room with my parents for three days in a row, it was the highlight of my life for those three days. Until I burned my hand on it.

Thank you, I hope things get better for you too. I just started taking a new med called Latuda, and it seems to be working pretty good so far (fingers crossed)! It really does help to know you’re not alone. I think a lot of us forget that sometimes. Best of luck!

So right on that one. You can have a chronic, serious mental illness and take all the right steps to ease the pain (keeping doctor’s appointments, taking all of your medications as prescribed, going to therapy, etc.) but you will never recover from it. There is no cure, just treatments that alleviate the symptoms…
