Was anybody else expecting the virtual pets to eat the little girl and/or each other?

“Wanting characters to identify with” implies an inability to identify with what is being offered. If your child only identifies with characters who look like him/her, you’ve failed as a parent. Children should be taught to identify with actions, words, deeds, etc. — not skin color, gender, or perceived background.

And the weird thing is nobody seems to care about the very clearly Asian ones (like Kuze, who works best as a local and was modeled after Takeshi Kaneshiro).

Honestly though, this whole whitewashing ‘panic’ is finding some small negatives in a very strong forward trend that Hollywood is (for once) ahead of the game on.

I have no opinion on Ghost in the Machine, I never read it and most likely will never see the movie. I’m a white male in America - nearly everything is made to appeal to me in one way or another. My thoughts on this video:

This is what we call false equivalence. Wanting characters to identify with is not the same as saying you only enjoy characters you identify with.

I must have missed a ton of GITS series and movies where the team actual looks like “asian” people. Because most of the main characters in the stuff I have seen don’t look “asian” at all.

How..... how are we still Having this conversation. How? How? There’s a hundred threads on io9 alone explaining that they are Asian, they “look Asian” to Asians, white to white audience. That it’s about the style. How are some people still pushing the “they don’t look Asian” garbage. HOW?!

Even more ridiculous considering anime characters don’t look asian at all.

Weeeeellll, I mean the “we’re doomed because Hillary didn’t win” mindset. Actually, I think we’re better off without her. Remember that when you’re able to pay your student loans, peeps. 🐣

Thank you for your service good sir or madam.

Oh! Extra request.

io9 commenters, hey, sup, how’s it going? I got a slight favor to ask.

Seriously, I’m hoping by June people are going to give up this “we’re doomed” mindset.

My feeling is that they want to make this.

Because it can be fun? And the best EU books were the Han Solo books.

Still crossing my fingers for some big war scenes, including some capital ship battles, in VIII. Though guess that list isn’t suggesting any.

How did I miss this in the latest Gotham episode?

The world needs another superhero show about as bad as someone needs cancer.

“he’s not doing the thing I want!”

All I know is that Dan Stevens is rocking some serious late ‘90's Damon Albarn action and that has me greatly intrigued.
