Not according to the game. Specifically states they go out to find men to have offspring with. There is an entire quest line to that effect. Also the only person crossdressing in the game (besides Link) is doing so as a merchant to sell their goods, not because they identify as trans. It’s part of the quest chain.

This is all well and good, but it comes down to one thing: $$$$. They cast someone so the film would make $$$$. Change the gender, change the skin tone, change characters, or even the story, whatever. Sure the film would be more faithful to the original story, but in the end these changes are made to make more $$$$.
