Well Stargate started in 1997 (B5 ended in 1998), and I’d argue that the first couple seasons of that show were pretty clunky.

Problem is that they want to do a movie...I would prefer another TV series to be honest. The quality of everything non-trek at the time is similar though. Not until 1999 does sci-fi television start to get better. Even Stargate SG-1's first season was pretty terrible quality-wise. We live in a post Battlestar…

And I’m not arguing against the brilliance of DS9, it’s my favorite Trek, but I do think that Babylon 5 had a better story to tell, clunky or otherwise.

I’m sorry I think that perhaps to start certainly SOME of the actors were wooden but the show evolved and I would argue that Girabaldi, Sheridan, and even Ivanova eventually all got better. And the problem isn’t in the Actors OR the effects, it’s in the comparison to something that is clearly a better overall product.…
