I tried to get my hair cut like this in 1994. My hairdresser made me look more like a Beatle. Many tears were shed!

Amen. I actually like them, but they’re too uncomfortable. I have high arches and the soles have support in the wrong place for me - I need it on the inner part of the sole and with Birkenstocks it feels like it’s in the middle. Horrible.
June in New England sounds a lot like June in ye olde England too! (And also July and August!)
Snap! I saw him in Thor and thought he was alright - I liked Loki, but didn’t get the fuss. Watched Hollow Crown and was like ‘OH, that’s why everyone on tumblr is obsessed with him’! I do have a weakness for an attractive man being excellent at Shakespeare though!
I've been in the greys all day - is it not enough that my country just shot itself in the foot, I'm getting extra punishment too?!
Is there a reason this comment has been in the grey all day?!
That is correct. I was just responding to the ‘how do you think your vote doesn’t count’ comment. Nine time out of ten your individual vote doesn’t count. It’s so ingrained that the BBC were continually reporting on percentages last night, when it was actual numbers of voters that counted for a change. It’s such a big…
Don’t get me wrong, I’m FURIOUS at this result and people like him who didn’t bother to find out how a referendum works thereby selling us all down the river, but in a regular General Election it is entirely possible that your vote won’t count due to our First Past the Post system.
I live in the North (Leeds) and my city voted with a majority for Remain, as did others including Manchester, Liverpool and Newcastle. I’m absolutely gutted about the result, but if you wonder why so many people in the North voted against their interests then statements like ‘uneducated hicks from the North’ is a…
The leave campaign as far as I can make out consists entirely of hatred and lies. I agree they are deliberately confusing refugees and immigrants, and the thing that winds me up is deliberately being obtuse about the issue of free movement. If we do leave (fingers crossed we don’t) there is no reason to believe that a…
Jesus. I despair at people, I really do. If only the dangers of fascism were still in living memory. Oh.
It’s local for me too (I’m in Leeds). Completely shocking and heartbreaking.
How does a person go about getting out of the greys on here?! I only post sporadically but I'm a long time lurker!
I remember a piece on John Oliver last year about how American police forces have been buying up surplus army equipment to the point that some of them are better equipped than the actual military, which is just mind boggling.
I feel like all of the countries with successful gun control should form a coalition and campaign on the issue in the NRA heartland. They won’t use weapons but the British delegate can say ‘sorry’ in such a way that it implies ‘curl up and die you useless piece of crap’!
Fellow non-American here, I’m equally baffled but I just assume the answer essentially boils down to some version of ‘because money’.
It’s exactly the same here in England. In fact even police with guns make me feel less safe - after the Paris attacks there has been an increased presence of armed police in city centres. I saw one in a shopping centre here in Leeds a couple of months ago and it was a deeply disturbing sight.
I've always loved Purple Rose of Cairo too, but it is definitely the least Woody Allen of his films! I think I'd feel too disgusted to rewatch it these days though.
This seems like a good place to point out that Americans have been wrongly saying “I could care less” for as long as I can remember! It’s “I could NOT care less”, as in “I have zero fucks to give. It is not possible for me to care about you/your problem any less than I already do.” I’m always baffled why an admission…
I seem to be in the minority on here as a woman who really didn't like JJ. I liked the concept, but it was such a chore to get through for me - I started watching when it was released and only finished it last month. I wonder if part of that is that I've never been a fan of David Tenant? I found his acting cartoonish…
