I know it’s purely a coincidence, but it reminded me so much of Red Skull’s fan service-y cameo in Infinity Wars. It just felt like throwing someone in that hadn’t been around for a while and would make for a surprise. Not to mention it’s even a little less impactful since Rogue One goes out on a similar note of the

That was for the casual audience who assumed he was dead from TPM. It could have been a different character from the same species (especially as he didn’t look entirely like TPM Maul, and was voiced by an audibly different actor), but showing the lightsabre confirmed it was Maul. Overkill for some viewers, necessary

Great to see Ray in costume and hear that voice again. We all know what happened to Maul in the Clone Wars toons?! What an expensive band aid for a huge bleeding gash of a disaster movie.

So if Maul could be cut into two halves and survive a fall into a power reactor, then why couldn’t Palpatine survive being thrown over a railing in Return of the Jedi?

snoke!

“It’s like poetry, sort of. They rhyme.”

Who did Palpatine work for in the OT?

Oh god.

Was it really particularly surprising, though? Like, the second Qi’ra was talking about Dryden Vos having an even more brutal boss, Maul was the first one to come to mind - timing works out, and outside Hondo and the bounty hunters, there aren’t any other important enough to be named syndicate kingpins left in the

Bringing Darth Maul back, no matter who cool he was, was the dumbest thing ever. Seriously. Is anyone dead if he lived? No. Absolutely ridiculous lazy writing that never should have happened.

As a Star Wars fan i have to say.. i was just baffled by his appearance. But not in a good way.
I never watched the Animated series and didn’t know about his “expanded” story and leaving the theater (and googleing Darth Maul) i was just confused about timelines.

Yes it was a nice cameo for the People who watched the

This episode brought up what would be, in a better-written show, at least a season’s worth of philosophical delving on Robot Ethics but which, because it’s this show instead, will most likely just be dropped after a couple episodes and never again discussed. To wit:

Quit trying to make cultural appropriation happen. Good lord is this desperate.

It also opens up the role to be someone who’s not a traditional actor, but can pull off some phenomenal physicality, like Ray Park did with Maul.

Lines like

I don’t know... Feels more like Donald Glover playing Billy Dee playing Lando Calrissian.

I was hoping for Willrow Hood to be there with his ice cream maker.

Well, at least they’ve always exsisted.

Idea ok , but that sketch ....stunk.

My mind is not blown by the idea of seeing Han Solo win the Millennium Falcon.
