Pie is per usual doing an excellent job of introducing us some high quality generally lesser known films we might otherwise miss in this world full of superhero blockbusters. His Jane Got a Gun post make me think of my favorite Jane led western - Cat Ballou staring Jane Fonda and Lee Marvin. And Lee Marvin.

It’s not a great film or an important one. Hell, it’s not even a good movie. Still, it captures the spirit that is Backtalk (note that cats get top billing).

Some science fiction films are about pure entertainment while others explore various themes such heroism or world building (and a few might even be about science). Yet from the earliest days of cinema, they also proved a great way to comment on and promote sociopolitical ideas.

Beautifully shot in County Donegal Ireland and Belfast Northern Ireland, this alien/monster movie is a far more realistic** contender for Backtalk’s official SciFi movie than the one decreed as well as the excellent alternative proposed.
