Yeah, same here. As my name suggests, I’m a public defender. If I strike, I’m doing actual harm. I’ve done a walk-out for BLM, but I still covered my cases before (and after). But I think people are generally understanding of why we can’t participate.

You can still participate by not spending any money that day. Don’t buy coffee or get gas. Pack your own lunch. Go straight to work and straight home. And try and be supportive of women who are in a position to participate.

There are lots of industries where people aren’t allowed to strike, because of this. Most people will get that.

I know it doesn’t help much to hear this but I was in a very similar state about a year ago. I’ve always had depression but I never imagined it could be that unbearable. I maxed out my sick days and it was all I could do just to show up at work, and I couldn’t even do that all the time. Brushing my teeth wore me out.…
