An entire NYPD precinct quitting in unison to become social workers is unequivocal fantasy, yes. It’s the princess kissing the frog, and the frog turning into a prince.

~cause Nathan needs to save for a PS5. Are you new around here?

But why is this a Kotaku article?

And although the article digs into it briefly, it bears repeating that the show has never operated in a bubble of “police are always good and people love the police”. They’ve constantly framed conflicts and even entire multi-episode arcs around the fact that there are problems with simply even being an officer, and

Coming in with the hot take that’s going to piss a lot of people off, but fuck it -

Yup. I mentioned elsewhere that these characters aren’t the type who’d quit in the face of the current climate. Amy would run the damn precinct by herself before she’d give up on the community.

Heres an idea, maybe let’s not cancel shows just because some police are racist pieces of shit?

Good drama, certainly. You can do that even with normal cops and criminals---see The Wire. Good irreverent comedy, I don’t think so. At least not with the focus on caring characters that the show has had thus far.

Imagine actually getting offended by a comedy cop show, sounds like this the writer of this article needs to get their priorities straight because this is easily the WORST article I've ever barely skimmed through.

This makes you the opposite of cynical.

Maybe I’m cynical, but I have trouble believing that we, as a society, can function without any sort of policing whatsoever. If the ultimate answer is that caring about serving your community effectively and justly means resigning from serving as a police officer, doesn’t that just mean that the only police officers

The basic idea here is that the show is about good people, and we want to see them do good things. I’d like to think that being a good person and an American cop aren’t mutually exclusive.

Giant Douche and Turd Sandwich are our choices for President once again.

Yeah, but at what cost?

This is what happens when most people are several steps removed from where their food comes from.”

Pretty much all manufactured foods have an insect part quota, depending on the type of food. There is no way to remove any and all insect parts or remnants from foods, but they have to hit a certain threshold.

As a non-white fan of the series (the books), I’ll see your wokeness and raise you a “cue white liberals wanting to change art to better reflect their full-time obsession with political correctness.” You act like you speak for all non-whites, which of course no one does; or worse, that only white people would consider

Incels are unreasonably angry and you are the only one that fits that description here.  Hopefully you can find some peace because being that unreasonably angry will tear you up inside.

That’s just it though, the jokes should write themselves. The joke writers are so passionate they end up writing the equivalent of little dick jokes and it comes off like middle schoolers trying too hard to get a laugh.

Meanwhile, in the offices of G/O Media...
