It was a better than good movie that borrowed a title, but not much else, from a fantastic book. If the movie and book didn’t share a title, the movie would be much better regarded today. And yes, I’m still waiting for the WWZ mini-series directed by Ken Burns.

In the United States, one of the two major political party’s primary goals is the oppression of women. Don’t fool yourself: Mens’ violence against women is personal and political. The two are intertwined.

The political aim is toxic hatred of women. And we’ve done enough soft selling of what amounts to extended torture and often hostage-taking and murder of women (and children), so often excused because she once slept with her torturer — or he wanted her to. It’s WORSE than random violence.

“Terrorism” is a helpful word because it puts to bed the lie that domestic violence victims can “just leave.” So many times we put the onus on the victim to leave the relationship, when the reality is that ending the relationship doesn’t always end the abuse.
