My big plan when I got married was to make my wedding dress out of Tyvek (you have to admit it would wear better than toilet paper), but I ran out of time and had to buy one instead.

I love the wig but her face looks pretty different, doesn't it?

Peak Affable Bro: nicely coined!

Try saying it out loud, though. It's a little tricky.

When I flew with my kids recently the flight attendants had kid-sized headphones as well as ones for adults. Of course, you can't count on them being available, but I stand by the proposition that this is not an errand that warrants leaving a child alone in a car.

I'm with you. It can be seriously inconvenient, but if you leave a little kid in a car you are leaving him or her alone. And honestly, headphones for the plane is a big help, but you could also just pay $2 for the crappy ones the flight attendants hand out and not make it a "must-do" errand.

I'm not familiar with the ethical rules governing the practice of law in Georgia, but I think that dude needs to go before some kind of disciplinary committee.

Middle aged mom here. I like beer a lot (and other drinks to some extent), but I try not to make it a regular thing. 1-2 drinks 1-2 times per week is my goal and I'm usually close to that. One of my oldest dearest friends came to town a year ago and I stayed with her in a hotel while my husband stayed home and I

The trailer seemed to imply that she actually got on the plane, meaning maybe this is a romantic comedy where they never actually get together and she finds professional success in Thailand?

I've felt like that plenty of times and I just don't think women are wired to turn those feelings into rage. I would say if I felt socially-inspired anger when I was younger it was towards girls my age who rejected me as friends, not boys who didn't want to date me, because female friendship is kind of a sine qua non

"Unlikely icon" seems offbase. Let's see, she's stunning, forceful, passionate ... the inevitable conclusion is that, in Time's view, her transgender status makes her "unlikely."

This. It was so great. Why, St. Ives???

Hoo boy, if I was on a reality show, it would be constipation city. Yikes.

Bottomless reservoir of rage—yup. I acquired one of those too.

That's a really good point. I've often thought, self-critically, that my middle school experience would have been drastically different if I had, in fact, grown a pair (so to speak). But if the internet had existed in its current form back then, growing a pair would not have been enough and I really think I might

And so it is with dwarves in both Wagner and Tolkien.

Considering that it's a state the size of a country, so it certainly ought to have its share of good schools, secondary and college. Fair enough about Rice. I'm always lived in the Northeast and while I'm aware that it's a college (and not a culinary school) that's as much as I know.

I "reread" this recently (via Librivox) and was surprised how much I liked it as an adult. It's a very adult book and the characters really came to life. I agree, though, Anne comes across as rather a "surrendered wife."

I don't buy this even a little. Anne was a very sweet, loving, heterosexual character. This theory just ignores the fact that girls/women can have extremely strong emotional non-romantic/sexual bonds with each other. BUT. If you want to talk about Emily of New Moon and her sexy, dangerous best friend Ilse versus

I can't remember a time when their clothes weren't low quality. Nothing I have from them has worn well. It pills, it rips, it goes seethrough in one washing. But my husband has some good stuff. It's the usual: women's clothes are made with the expectation we will buy a whole new wardrobe every season, whereas men
