Man I love the looks of a Corrado, but the maintenance horror stories keep me away.
My dad had one of these way when my mullet wig first fused to my skull. It was a diesel, his favorite story involves him fording the flooded out canal road after a cop told him he would never make it though in his tiny truck. My dad is not the smartest, but damn it he’s stubborn.
Yeah, that’s one thing I hate about rentals, getting used to all the controls can be a pain.
Not surprised at all that a LeMons team used them, I’m sure there are piles of them laying around at places that sell used tires.
Others have responded saying that current BMWs are the same way. I haven’t driven a BMW newer than the 1995 530i I have, so I can’t say for sure.
Haha, thanks. Hoping to be able to drive it more next spring. Want to be able to get it to the point where a once weekly trip to work is normal.
Yup, exactly what is happening. I’ve been behind MINI’s doing the same thing and for half a second I think “WTF is wrong with them?” and then I remember that god forsaken turn signal and laugh.
That is sad. But hopefully, for every Grand National with a 350 swap, there’s a Corvette or some other SBC car with a Grand National swap. Guy I work with is well underway with his Grand National swap on his C1 vette. Don’t worry, not like he chopped up a nice C1, it was his from back in his drag racing days, so there…
Yeah, definitely need to blip it twice if you’re trying to pass someone in traffic. 3 blinks isn’t enough to check blind spots and still make the change.
I would imagine the treads last forever. I didn’t run them long enough to find out.
Yeah I’m the same way, once I know how to use it, blink to pass is nice. It also gives a nice motivation to make sure you do a swift and smooth lane change before your 3 blinks are up. Although after getting a motorcycle, I’ve come to the habit of checking mirrors/blind spots, 3 blink, checking mirrors/blind spots…
Someone else suggested, I’ll have to try. I can only assume I never tried it because I insist on trying to operate it like a normal turn signal lever and push it back to center, only to push back too far and engage derp mode.
2007 Cooper S, R56. There is no spot for the turn signal stalk to stay in, it automatically returns to center. My GTI had a detent that kept the stalk in the fully up or down position when fully pushed to use the “full” turn signal. You pushed until you felt the resistance and let it spring back to center to get the 3…
Yeah I’ve found the same, so any time I want to push the e34, I just turn the TCS off and have a blast.
Possible the detent is worn, although it’s been like this since she bought it with 27k on the clock. I feel like the detent just isn’t strong enough to work effectively for how they want it to go.
I thought it was funny the first time, every time after though it just became more and more annoying.
Thanks, I thought the wheels set it off really well, especially going up in size to 17” from the stock 15”. Only bad part is, running the stock 4th gen wheels, I had to go with 2” wheel adapters in back and 1.5” in the front to get them to clear since the backspacing isn’t right. Not just spacers though, I got bolt on…
GF drives a 2007 Cooper S, and I used to drive a 2009 GTI. Good year for the GTI, MKV looks with MKVI engine.
Yeah, my gf’s is a 2007, definitely fun to drive, and there is more cargo space than you’d think with the back seats down. Width though, I feel cramped riding in the passenger seat, but then again, I am a large man. Not quite this bad, but sometimes it feels close when I’m riding in the passenger seat:
