50 MB + 71 MB = 121 MB, not 1,200 MBs. I think your 2.5 GB plan is safe, based on that sample.

Voice memos I record on my iPhone end up in iTunes on my Mac. I don't recall doing anything special to set that up. It just works. This seems like a cool app, but just wanted to point out that they do sync with just stock Apple stuff.

It also claims “significantly reduced battery consumption.” If true, this is huge. Waze always used to heat my phone up, and even when it was plugged in, the best I could hope for was that the battery level didn’t drop. I’m really hoping this means I can use it unplugged and still have a battery afterwards.

Yep, my wife and I each have one. We keep em on the dash, not the windshield. For me, about every three months the suction cup comes loose, and then I just wash it in warm water, let it air dry, and I’m back in business for another three months. Totally worth it for the quick release. Highly recommended.

This totally screwed up my IMAP folders. I used to have a Forums and a Notifications folder. They updated the lab, and now the filters simply skip inbox, but since Forums and Notifications don't exist anymore, they just go to a black hole. I'm guessing All Mail. Guess it's back to manual filters again. Thanks, Google.

I looked into this. Every attempt to run their import tool simply opens up the outlook.com inbox. There's no link anywhere on outlook.com for the import tool, so I guess you have to know the magical URL to make it work. #SadTrombone

I'm gonna add my voice to the "what are you talking about?" camp. Yes, the OS was slow with the first couple of developer releases, but for the last few, and including the GM, it's been smooth sailing for me. And I'm running an older 2009 MacBook Pro. Read more

The reason lack of MMS sucks is because if someone sends a text to multiple people from their iPhone, the iPhone converts it to an MMS. So what ends up happening is Google Voice misses most of the messages in the thread. Sometimes you might get one reply from someone, and that makes it even more confusing because you Read more

Not working well for me. On the Mac, it hangs constantly, and never offers to send anything to the iPhone, other than the clipboard. That part actually worked.

That's so true. When I first moved to Providence, I was blown away by the number of people (pretty much all) who would gun it so they could turn left at a green light in front of all the people who were going straight in the other direction. I can't tell you how many times I almost broadsided someone who pulled that Read more

I've been using the Nike+ Running app for the iPhone for about a year. I love it. Not only does it track my distance, pace, etc. it also lets me set goals. It has a lot of great positive feedback to really keep me motivated, and I find that regularly sharing my runs to Facebook helps me as well. (The con is that I Read more

Points taken. But I still maintain it's a hassle to manage a second stream.

I've been using it the past few days, and I have not experienced any kind of additional battery drain.

I love this idea! I've been gathering up all my gear and placing it ready to go by the bed, but it still requires that I change out of my comfy PJs. Totally trying this idea tonight.

You're missing the point. If you have a fucking grinder, and you lose power, how are you going to grind your beans?

When you lose power for 5 days (as we did with both Irene and Sandy) and you need your coffee fix, and all you have is beans, it's nice to have some alternative methods available. The ziplock bag + cast iron pan + heating water on the woodstove approach would have worked for me, I imagine. Read more

Every response I got from Iomega tried to put the blame on the hard drives I was using (they were fine), or a problem with OS X. They were incredibly unhelpful, so I ended up shelving it.

Iomega iConnect. The thing is horrendous. Drives are never available, the admin web site was never available. Support was horrible. I guess I should have known given how awesome the Zip drive was. Sigh.
