There’s another post on here by Bradley Brownell that complains about how tepid the Ferrari 288 GTO turned out to be when he saw it on Jay’s Garage. What the hell was Leno thinking, anyway? Why NOT hoon the crap out of a million dollar “rare-even-by-Ferrari-standard” 288 GTO? Just go WOT and apex every damn corner on

I watched that a few days ago. Considering the age and pristine condition, I’m guessing David Lee wasn’t keen on Jay gingerly bringing his 288 GTO to operating temp and then jamming the throttle wide open till it’s deep in triple digits. Or using the cloverleaf on-ramp to drift a few lanes while getting up to highway

I spent a month in Florida working for a company that serviced hotels. I drove between Miami, Naples, Boca Raton and Ft. Lauderdale, with most of that time on I-95. I spotted at least one single car wreck in the ditch about every other day on those trips.

Again, they PAID people to WRITE THE ESSAYS for the applicant child. They PAID people to TAKE THE COLLEGE BOARD TESTS for them. Please stop equivocating this with applicants who get help from essay editors and pay for standardized exam preparation. Remember: These families STOLE acceptance slots dedicated to student

The parents paid to STEAL a slot designated for a student athlete. That’s not “removing uncertainty”, it’s denying an athlete an opportunity so their non-athlete applicant child can attend a prestigious school. The parents used a FAKE CHARITY to do so and wrote it off on their taxes. (This is the reason Uncle Sam came

Interesting take. My wife and I were talking about taking a motorhome trip, but instead of driving from Chicago to various points west and then allllll the way back, we’d take an Amtrak to someplace like Kingman AZ and rent a motorhome there. It’ll cut out a lot of cross country driving boredom. Plus you get to see

This is a very good way of putting it. Donations and family legacies don’t guarantee acceptance, but it certainly helps. Dr. Dre donated $70 million to build the Jimmy Iovine and Andre Young Academy for Arts, Technology and the Business of Innovation back in 2013. He created a space for the college to make money and

$70 million to build a facility to bring in students for a new program? Sure, little Truly Young can attend USC, provided she makes the grades required to graduate and abides by their code of ethics. Good for you, Dr. Dre. And good for Truly. And good for USC and anyone seeking to study Arts, Technology and the

The continued success of Hammond, May and Clarkson is simple - everyone, especially guys, can relate to at least one personality trait. May is annoying and pedantic, but also very knowledgeable and capable. He’s the kind of guy you like having around to help with a project even if he’s a bit annoying.

Hi Doug! I can see the use of a quantitative comparison when you’re considering like products and figured that was your intent. As you can see from the other comments, it’s not so useful in any other context.

Surprised I’m not seeing this in the feed yet.

Depends on the car and who’s presenting it. You’re basically knocking the original Top Gear. Car pornography was, is and always will be a fun diversion for me. I’ll make time for quality programming.

I get that. It’s why I dismiss it - and essentially the second half of his videos - so quickly. I haven’t bothered to see if there’s a handicapping system to his spreadsheets because you can’t compare a McLaren to a Porsche to a Toyota to a Mazda.

I like Doug’s writing style and I generally enjoy his quirks and features video content, but once he’s on the road it’s MEH. You can’t convey the excitement of driving a Porsche with a stuck-on GoPro and that mug.

I didn’t notice that similarity to the Accord. Not only that, but their failure to use glass means that piece will stick out like a sore thumb on the brighter choices in Cadillac’s color palette. The Escala’s C-pillar is simple and clean and, yes, looks a bit like Audi and BMW. There’s only so many ways to finish off

It’s the latter. The rear half of that window span is over a shallow part of the door. The trailing edge on the C pillar is either a small fixed window or fake window to complete the character line. It’s Cadillac’s larger sedan platform. Rear seat legroom is definitely there.

If you love it, that’s all that matters. Keep it in that condition. It’ll be a conversation starter wherever you go among enthusiasts because you just don’t see cars like that anymore.

There are a lot of kids who may have been unaware of the level of depravity their parents stooped to in order to give them an unfair advantage in getting into school. But not all of them. Some kids were coached to “act dumb” to take advantage of extra time for standardized tests allotted to students with a diagnosed

Is this a thing in China? Putting the torque rating on a badge? As if that’s something the typical Cadillac buyer is considering - both here and there. I hope they give their sales people a quick, concise explanation that they can memorize and thoroughly answer the inevitable question from customers. you don’t want to
