My first Corvette was a ‘94 with 110k I paid $4k for. It had the abs light on, but no other issues. That car made me a Corvette fan and was amazing considering the price.

I looked at one and was very impressed. But the idea of a high cost battery replacement (if even possible) after 300k was unappealing. They can be had for $13k with under 100k miles. It's very tempting, but I passed.
My buddy bought an '05 to go with his '05 Vette. The CTS-V just needs a pinion brace and that car is ready to rip. Very plush yet so capable, it's awesome and can be had for $20k or less with minimal miles.
The trick is to buy the right used car. I paid $4k for my '94 Corvette that ran flawless (minus having no heater, but no C4 has a heater) for 2 years. I hit a patch of ice and wrecked it. Insurance totalled it out and I got a check for $13k.
I could see it at that price. I test drove a used Turbo S that was $150k that was amazing. Way overkill and way expensive, but a 4S for $65k with those miles, I'm down.
Considering the lack of manual C6's, I would take that in a hot minute. I've been trying to find a quality C6 manual since I sold my C5. Damn boomers love slush boxes.
I would roll the dice. You could do an LS swap pretty easy if you fail on the LT5. And the LT5 even non running might be worth at least half the LS. Not a fan of those seats, the batwing seats are WAY better.
No dice. A friend's dad had one in college and we took it out a few times. The side windows are the worst, but there are so many awful things about that car.
When I lived close enough to bike, I enjoyed it most of the time. Portland weather isn't the greatest, but appropriate gear and it's fine.
This is literally what I've been asking for. My kids are grown, I need a mid life EV dammit.
You can build a proper one using C6Z06 parts for $50k. You could pay someone $20k to bolt it together and still be ahead.
I would love to build a Tesla powered Porsche 356 kit car. It wouldn't be any more a bastardization than a water cooled Subaru motor. I would love a 2 seat sporty EV. There are a few on the way, but a plug in 356 would be bad ass.
Mazda Miata. Peter Griffin had it correct, it's not a sports car.
Better to see it race an wreck than sit untouched forever in some sweaty guys collection. It will get rebuilt and it will be awesome. Look at the breadvan, that thing is amazing.
What an interesting article that got reduced to a funny line at the end. These comments are too much, thanks for the coverage, Andy
You really don’t want a C4 prior to ‘91. The L98 is terrible and so are those seats. You can get a late model C4 for half that price and have double the performance if you get a 6 speed. Or you can get a C5 for that price and have even better performance.
Its tempting, but you can get a Corvette for $18k. I would go $14k and enjoy it.
So. Much. Red.
This is so awesome. I might not have flipped my first Vette in ice had it been AWD. I tried to daily drive my Vette, but ice is a no go. With an appropriate tire, this would totally work for me.
Dammit, I didn't see the location before I voted. Modesto changes everything.
