Has anyone considered that Splinter died because Deadspin (and others) decided they wanted to cover the same turf and there wasn’t enough traffic for all of them? (No, probably not, because that is too logical for the folks in charge around here - there’s no victim card to play in that scenario.)

Not understanding what your own site does can be a recurring problem.

People use FB for feeds of their friends, not “enagement” by algorithm. People read Twits for short info, not for parsing thru ads. People read Deadspin for insightful tangents and the wild commentariat.

If you expect people to do something different…
