I used a yn360 off amazon for this, but pretty much anything bright will work.

Good tip. That works well enough. My plan is to save all the good stuff and then upload to my google drive and have a sheet there as a database.

Thanks! I’ve been contributing to Jalopnik for years now under JBH but Raph made me change it for that one.

Thanks! This is a composite made of I think 7 or 8 different exposures and make everything play nice in photoshop. I used one Flashpoint Xplor 600 with a bare bulb to create both of these. The light emanating from behind the car was just two strobe pops low and behind the car to get the drama.

I used to use a Nikon D810 for work and I loved it. My general rule is to invest in good glass before upgrading bodies.

Just get her a used basic DSLR off CL. As others have mentioned, she will need the ability to manually control the shutter and aperture to actually learn anything.
