To each their own I guess.

Yeah your tastes had moved on. I was in the same boat, latchkey kid with access to HBO and Showtime, just a few years later in 88
I think I’ve only seen 3 once all the way through, but I’ve seen 1 and 2 probably 100 times each. 3 is garbage.
I think maybe you were too old the first time you saw it. Maybe exiting your tweens and entering teens. It’s definitely a kiddish movie ,with the main characters all around 12. I’m just a little bit younger early to mid 40's and remember it fondly. I also love Better Off Dead, btw.
Yep and to make it healthy you have to deal with this shit: “minimally processed local grains, fresh organic milk”. Give me a f-ing break. I’m so sick of these people. The real world us will just add some veggies and maybe stay away from the meat lovers.
I have a popcorn machine, not as nice as this one, and it is just such a pain to clean. I’ve gone back to stove top. It’s easy to do, easy to cleanup, leaves very few unpopped kernels, and tastes awesome. I’ve also found the popcorn stays warmer longer.

Yea all the gold really did give it that vibe.
I really enjoyed the ranting, and may be the first time I understood string theory.
The fact that there are many “realities” in the sims makes me think that what Lily did actually fixes the system. If Forests’ end game was to live out a life in the sim where his wife and daughter never die, then a different choice had to be made to make that happen. If everything was pre-determined then Deus could…
Ah, well that I could agree with. I already feel like SW is losing steam, but now that we’ve closed the door on the OG story arc, I’m curious to see where Star Wars goes now.
I have heard nothing about Feyd, which makes me think a few things:
Watch The King on Netflix. Chalamet is good and I think is a good preview of what he can bring to Dune. Also, Patterson is worth the price of admission.
That’s funnier, but I think the 2020 comp would be Harry Styles. Which I may be okay with.
Maybe they are foregoing the personal shields. I might be okay with that. I hated the Lynch geometric shape shields, like a bad 80's video game, and I never thought they were described well enough in the books to visualize. Maybe you could do a nearly invisible thing that only reacts when touched by a weapon.
I agree. I’ve really only seen him in The King, and while he was upstaged by an excellent Patterson, he was pretty good in that. I think that part pairs well with this part too.
Not triggered or offended here. I’ll never feel that way about a source of entertainment. I just felt Dune couldn’t reach that height, though it could most certainly be a hit franchise of its own. I hope it does because I love the source material.
I’ve always loved the Lynch version, while also knowing it was a bad adaptation. He just had too much of an avant-garde style for the project. It will be loved by some, but not appealing to all. It’d be like Tim Burton doing a Captain America movie.
You could have said that about the 80's Dune, but not now. Star Wars is too much of a juggernaut at this point. Also, Star Wars hit the sweet spot of capturing the imagination of children while not necessarily being made for them. Dune is more “adult”. You’re not going to make it funny or cute, at least not without…
Love beer bread. Probably make it once a month. I fell in love with the tastefully simple one, and then figured this has got to be easy from scratch because the TS one was too expensive. After trying a few, I’ve had the best luck with the recipe. My tips would be to sift the flour and throw in a little bit more sugar,…

Really have enjoyed this show. It’s got a great slow burn to it. I don’t have a good theory of where it will end up. I just hope it pays off in the end. Too many high concept shows get the runner to third, but can’t get him home.
