We do not build carriers to fight naval battles against China and Russia. We build carriers to project air power anywhere in the world, at any time, whether we have accessible air bases with mission permission or not. That is what carriers have been used for since World War II and will continue to be used for.

Just to put a finer point on what you’re saying, AT&T won’t deliver the exact same service to someone who lives in a poorer area even if they had the money for the service. Apple straight don’t give a fuck as long as you pony up the money.

While I agree Internet access is a utility, why is >18Mbps a utility? This doesn’t say AT&T isn’t providing Internet, but they are providing DSL service not U-Verse.

Holy fuck, that even solves the Abrams Trek reboot flipping the rule! (1 & 3 are good, 2 is shit).

Ah, but there was always the reassuring theory that odd numbers are a bit ropy and even numbers are good. The Motion Picture? Not so good. Wrath of Khan: a rich corinthian classic. Search for Spock? Hmmm. The Voyage Home? Your mileage may vary but for me it’s one of the high points.

^^ This always bothered me. Star Trek was a potential cash cow. If I could produce a movie with a built-in fanbase like that, with just about the highest name recognition you could wish for, I would do my utmost to wring the most money out of it I could. Good writers cannot possibly be so expensive as to risk shitting

Both films are especially bad when you compare them to First Contact. It’s like in Insurrection they were trying to replicate that same tension and gravitas but had none of the personal stakes or danger. Then in Nemesis they realized where they screwed up and forced a bunch of terrible subplots on the characters and

1 is a cool number. It even has a hit song written about it. But not both a hit song and a popular music video:
