I kinda agree about O’Brien, especially because if he didn’t win one in Miami, no way he would’ve with the Jets. But Brady over Sapp? There’s no way to sugarcoat that one.

The cruel one was pausing after “Quarterback” when Marino was on the board.
The funny thing: Ken O’Brien, the most famous of those wrong picks, ended up being the best player and one of the best QBs in Jets history.
This video doesn’t fully detail how badly they screwed up when they grabbed a WR
So, so many useless TE’s. Why?
I know it was much later but I officially gave up in 2002. The Jets were in desperate need of a safety. They are sitting at No. 22. They select....Bryan Thomas, DE, UAB.
The Ravens sitting at No. 24 select the top safety in the draft....Ed Reed.
The Jets went on to select THEIR safety in the second round....Jon McGraw.
…
The Kyle Brady pick always makes me laugh. But hearing it at the end of that recap of years of insanity gives it whole new life!!
Mel Kiper, Jr.’s comment that the Jet’s don’t understand the draft is burned into my memory. Perfect comment.
I starred this and every single comment in this thread. This made my day.
Remember, every team passed on Marino (there were 28 teams at the time). He had suspect knees and was rumored to have a coke problem (back when cocaine was destroying MLB and the NBA).
This is my favorite Youtube video of all time. I wish I could travel back in time and have this be a submission to the Voyager’s Golden Record, to be preserved for time and all eternity.
Jesus Christ, that was sad to watch.
Let’s remember some Jets jerseys I have owned:
The look on the face of the fan after they draft that TE ahead of Sapp is the eternal look of a Jets fan.
The only thing more embarrassing than the Jets draft picks are the grown men in that video who tie their happiness to them.
I think it was the Marriott Marquis, so it at least was a nice hotel in the middle of Times Square, but yes.
The best is you hear cheers but you see the Jets fans react in horror, so those chears from other team’s fans that know the Jets just fucked another one up and they are going to get a steal.
At least McNeil and O’Brien were actually good players foe several years.
Johnny Lam Jones...
