Malla is still alive after the Empire falls. It’s mentioned in the Aftermath trilogy (Disney canon) that she is still alive and Chewiee is able to go back to his family after Kashyyk is liberated.

Actually, I would assume this Solo would be *less* smarmy. I am willing to bet that this is going to be the story of how Han was betrayed and became so cynical, etc. A more youngish, naive and trusting Han makes more sense for this film character-wise.

Some people are grumbling because it looks like he’s just playing Donald Glover, but it kind works in a spiritual sense because Billy Dee Williams was just playing Billy Dee Williams in the original trilogy.

The shot at the beginning with the destroyer being built isn’t in a particularly rough atmosphere, is it? I am assuming that’s Corellia.

They’re definitely leaning into a space-Western motif with this movie so I think it works.

Except Han Solo is not actually Harrison Ford *gasp*. Han Solo is a character, and I am perfectly ok with new actors bringing their own take to old characters. Honestly, I would be kinda bummed if it was just a Harrison Ford impression. Ehrenreich is a talented actor and I’ll judge him less for his ability to mimic

It really doesn’t matter, at all.

The Tolkien estate is never going to let anything from The Silmarillion get filmed, ever.

No part of The Silmarillion is going to be filmed because the Tolkien estate is never going to give up the film rights for that. That stuff was Tolkien’s true baby and they don’t want studios anywhere near it.

Never gonna happen. Christopher Tolkien and the whole estate are very protective of that stuff and they’ve made that clear numerous times.

Also, they improved Boromir by a lot.

That’s actually our world right now, at least according to Tolkien.

Nope. Christopher Tolkien has made it his life’s mission to make sure nothing from The Silmarillion will ever get on screen, and the Tolkien estate is pretty much on board with that.

“JJ very deliberately leaned into OT nostalgia.”

Which is funny because so much of Rogue One is nostalgia fuel. I mean, Princess Leia shows up for goodness sake.

I am not really disagreeing. The major beats of TFA were similar to ANH. But I definitely think the reason Rogue One is so well regarded is that it has so

A “masterpiece of storytelling” where characters who have said barely 5 words to each other give each other heartfelt goodbyes and everyone follows some random girl who didn’t give a shit 10 minutes ago into certain death? It was a fine film with a great action set piece (plus a ton of fan service) that allows you to

You people will never ever stop bitching about TLJ will you?

“Empire Strikes Back or Rogue One”

Woah now. Let’s not get carried away. RO is a great Star Wars film, but it still suffers from some pretty shody character-building. ESB is a near perfect film in my opinion.

You’re reading WAY too much into this. Pegg literally just said that the idea was “chucked around” which if you know anything about writer’s rooms means absolutely dick.

I’ll never for the life of me understand why some people desperately need Rey to be “somebody”. It’s so much more special that she’s ‘no one’ and that the Force has been re-democratized. I am so tired of the Space Kennedys.

I know everyone has been conditioned by the EU, but not everyone HAS to be related to someone

Still sucks way less ass than Kinja.
