Ok you jest but his steel coffins for submerged young boys are certain to do laps around the competition, any year now...

“Executives estimate the street value of this content to be somewhere between 5-8 MILLION”

Came to say this. Just sidestep the whole “we’re sensitive to X or Y” thing and say that kind of joke or reference doesn’t fit, period. What they said instead is very mealymouthed and defensive, with more consideration for how it affected them as opposed to the game or its players.

They should have just said “it would be distracting towards immersion in the game world by pointing too directly to outside factors” boom there done. No need to get all mealy mouthed (or show your hand that you’re afraid of having to make a stand one way or another)

Surprised to see “Friends” on there. In table play, it’s universally regarded as situational to the point of being useless because DMs can easily say “ok now your reputation with this guy and possibly this entire area is now ruined, forever” all for just getting advantage on a check. Not having played Baldur’s Gate, I

I had always just assumed that a Viking choir was hiding just over the hills somewhere, bellowing any time a dragon decided to show up and be a pest.

Rookie mistake

BUT HE SHOWED UP TO SET ON TIME

for many it was never going to set the world on fire, it’s just another Bethesda game

I have zero doubts the menus will get an overhaul eventually, the favorite/quick-swap section has been a standard feature since Fallout 3.

It’s all just more evidence that this game is in bad need of a hotbar in order to improve its menu. Not the UI feature, but an actual heavy lunch buffet. I’m thinking shrimp scampi in linguini, twice-baked potatoes, creole okra, pilaf, baked orange roughy, cabbage casserole...

Sorry my mistake. On that note, I’m much more comfortable with a text-to-speech engine than a generative writing engine. TTS can also be used cynically to replace voice actors through the use of training models, but at the same time it’s kind of torture (or at least not rewarding) to do those long recording sessions

AI is woefully bad at it so far. Nothing beats tight, consistent writing from a dedicated team. Even if speech patterns get more sophisticated, it’s still likely for weird things to sneak in or stray off the plot/thematic focus. It’s a matter of including everything vs expecting an advanced script to be able to keep

The protag character in FO4 never bugged me, but it definitely seems like it wasn’t worth all of the effort to implement it into a game of that size. The payoff isn’t proportionate to the encumbrance placed on the dev team and voice actors to get it all done. It definitely can work in smaller, tighter-focus games,

Makes me want to pour one out for UFO 50 from Derek Yu’s Mossmouth (responsible for the greatness that is Spelunky 1&2) which at this point could legitimately be considered vaporware.

What a difference a ray makes!

I would have liked to have seen some business applications listed, so I did a tiny bit of digging for the edification of the comments sections:

- Gesture controls for windows, other apps
- Quick “body scan” that can accommodate AR overlays like displaying new clothing
- Physical therapy and rehab, combining therapeutic mo
