Lipstick is so great. I feel like it brightens up my whole face/day/existence. I'm really not that into makeup for my own face, but that's kind of the one thing I turn to on a bad day.

The crease shading is absolutely possible with a hooded lid. You will have to be willing to experiment both with your technique and your products. Starting the crease blending up a slightly bit higher than your actual crease, with your eyes open and looking forward will help a lot.
