I was horrified to hear yet another story like this on the news last week. And then I was stunned to find out that the woman who was attacked is family to someone I work with every day.

I grew up in Cincinnati, which is a very conservative town in a very conservative state (with pockets of progressiveness). This is huge. WCPO posted on Facebook that Duke Energy changed their "Cincinnati" sign from white lights to rainbow in honor of Leelah Alcorn.
