Yup, 6hrs driving time is my limit for work.  Usually my trips are closer to 4:30 or so, but not having to deal with airports and car rentals are pretty major factors for me.  Plus, if I get done a day early, or need to stay an extra day I don't have to deal with changing my flight.

I personally did not find book 1 that way, although I understand your criticism. Books 2 and 3 are quite a bit better.
