People always look at me strangely when I say that Stephen Merchant is my ultimate celebrity crush, but there is something to be said for a very intelligent man who writes consistently excellent comedy and flies just under the radar. Plus, I have a thing for gangly gingers.

Oh man I fucking LOVE that movie. And even though he was playing a total douchebag, I was all "Who's THAT guy? That guy is great." When somebody's that likable* even when they're portraying a complete toolbox, you know they're going places.

PRATT PRATT PRATT

I know he made it all about him! But apparently that's how Lowe is and why he's no longer on the show.

And it's Gervais's writing (and perhaps more significantly, I'm beginning to suspect, Stephen Merchant's) that positions us, the audience, in her corner.

DAYUM! That was him?!!! Ok, I see where all the resentment is coming from. Still, I think it weird that he creates a show like Derek. I watched the 1/2nd season. It was a weird, sweet, and thoughtful show. Then turn around and write this. This guy carries a lot of issues.

I don't know who this Chris Pratt person is but he looks an awful lot like my favorite FBI detective Burt Macklin.

I liked it when a young Professor Xavier clocked Skylord with a keyboard from Wanted. Got to re-see it over lunch. Wonderful.

Totally a Larry David fan, but bored to tears by Jerry Seinfeld.

I really think Derek shows more of the real Ricky than "Ricky Gervais" does. His public persona is something for him to often work out his own issues in a free form, often offensive way — he has struggled a lot with his weight, so he just says what he thinks, even if it's blunt or mean. He's probably too reliant on

Agree. Maybe I'm a cynic but I totally accept that people are flawed, that you can love someone's work and find them funny or brilliant while also acknowledging that they can be assholes or hold questionable opinions about other things. It's called separating the art from the artist and it really is the only way to

I think Ricky Gervais has moments of brilliance, and those moments have elevated him to a status that he can't keep up with. Just like the insane success of Seinfeld (it was an amazing show at the perfect time) but the followup projects are not nearly at the same level. It doesn't take away from what he did, but he

as a constant fatty (or someone who thought they were always fat), i wonder if his boiling hatred also stems from the fact that he was BEAUTIFUL (if hella new wave, ofc) when he was younger, and then "lost his looks" when he gained weight.

Louis C.K. has his moments where I've disagreed with him but I've given him major points for acknowledging that he has white (male) privilege. Not many comics will acknowledge that let alone bring it up in their routines.

I gotta say, I know Taylor Swift can be too earnest and sugary sweet and a little immature, but I really, really like this post from her. She doesn't pretend like pain and bullying go away, she doesn't say one day the bullies will be suddenly ugly and poor and those who are bullied will be beautiful and rich. She's

LOL my bf saw me watching this and went "You have problems."

Well, if that's what floats your boat. I'd much rather watch this for two hours:

"Taylor Swift would like to be on Girls but Lena Dunham allegedly thinks she is bad at acting..."

Leading me to believe that Lena has never seen her show. Neither, she, Williams or Mamet can act.

For what it's worth, I seem to remember news articles circulating a while ago that a lot of people are genetically unable to taste cilantro as anything other than soap. It's not a put-on attitude but a reality. I'm not sure whether it's worth mentioning this in a brief way to waitstaff?
