Or just that it was a bad movie.
Or just that it was a bad movie.
It’s because the prequels “ruined” Star Wars (they didn’t), and the new movies were going to fix it (it doesn’t need to be fixed). You’re not dealing with typical fans, you’re dealing with people who view the original movies as sacred texts. They want to use these movies to vicariously relive their childhoods, and it…
Snoke’s backstory and any possible future...
“Johnson was daring enough” — Really?
I feel that Rian Johnson threw a lot of things from The Force Awakens over his shoulder and into the sea. Snoke’s backstory and any possible future, Rey’s parents, the loyalty of Star Wars fans.
I had a revelation seeing Black Panther, though my epiphany was a long time coming. Star Wars in the 70's and 80's was great, one of the greatest pop culture entities of its time. But, despite the new trilogy, it has been fully supplanted by the MCU. The MCU has more fully developed characters, stronger story arcs,…
That’s the basic description of The Last Jedi. Waste of opportunity
I won’t dispute your opinion, but pacing, that’s the reason they cut this scene?
Well, it gave her something more to do. What a waste of an interesting actress, interesting costume, and maybe, possibly, interesting character. Twice.
See but even in its illogicalness that’d still be more interesting. I mean so far all we’ve gotten is a character who is less interesting, and has had less impact, than the stormtrooper who shouted ‘Traitor!’. So a turn towards ‘Completely undeniably incompetent and oblivious’ would be a welcome change of pace.
I always find that after my ship has just been blown to shit, slowing down and having a casual conversation about treason is the logical thing to do.
“Luke mourning Han’s death damn well should’ve been in the film.”
Luke mourning Han’s death damn well should’ve been in the film.
I’m not bitter fanboy but it’s pretty obvious this movie failed at the basic script level when a new creative team decided to do away with every plot line from the previous film. Everything else is just window dressing and pretty pictures along with rehashes of the original trilogy.
One question remains, though: What was Luke’s third lesson? Johnson said it’s not directly addressed, leaving it open to fan interpretation
This is simply not true. Empire was viewed as the best of the three immediately.
I’d say it’s closer The Phantom Menace: jubilant hype turning to denial and insistence that plot points could be considered plausible if you ignore good writing when people start realizing that it often didn’t make sense and was poorly crafted.
Is it possible to understand everything that went on in the movie, and still hate it? Because that is where I am.
Holy fuck. Enough with TLJ. Jesus.
“ as storytellers, we have to kind of serve what the scenes need to be.”
