Mine has no password on it when my phone is within range of my pebble, as soon as it gets out of range or I turn off my pebble, the phone is locked with a pin number. I can also force my phone to start a siren if it leaves range of the watch, but I'm afraid of my watch dying while in public and my phone freaking out.

That study was meant for TV's that people normally watch from many feet away. It's really easy to see the difference between a 1080p and a 720p laptop screen. If you're going to be close to it, the resolution really counts.

That dim blue is a lot more power efficient than a bright white background. They really should change the background color to black.

Since it has an OLED screen it probably saves a lot of power in this mode only lighting up the small corner of the screen.
