Federal mandate, just like any min wage.

It is not a set number, because a set number means something different, city by city as we have agreed on.

Again, you are assuming that local governments will address the issue. My experience in local government and policy making says otherwise.

Again, you’re focused on $15, which we have established doesn’t mean anything depending on where you’re located. That is why it should be geographically based. If it is geographically based, there is zero need to tie into standard inflation number either, as some areas may experience increased costs different than

At $15 you’re assuming a single earner with 3ish children and a non earning spouse. I believe that is absurd that should be the baseline.

If you tie it in would dual parent, single child you’re disproportionately helping single users. I have no problem with parents accessing aid for food, rent, etc.

My state has mail in voting, and you register to vote online.

We have a local florist claiming the same nonsense.

I’m not sure how active you are in local politics and voting, by in my geography statements about lack of importance or impact because they are just one vote are often repeated when asked why they aren’t voting.

Thanks for the info!

That’s why I said a single person (I suppose I should have been more clear and said healthy). That should be the bare minimum.

Sure I may be one voter, but that statement is one that leads to voter apathy.

You might be removed from other states and cities and what their cost of living is like.

Sure, but I’m talking about assistance that you have to actively pursue.

Of course it matters what I’m okay with, I’m a voter. If they want to make their platform more palatable to more voters, it should be more logical. A number plucked out of the sky and applied across the country makes no sense, that is my critique.

That’s exactly what I’m saying.

Of course I’m using two extremes to illustrate that a statewide / countrywide min is extreme. If you want to drive down to communities within a city, that is your prerogative. Going statewide is more extreme than city level. I’m okay with city boundaries as a place to start.

Yes, the goal would be to remove full time workers off of government roles.

Wouldn’t the “ish” calculations be better than a number plucked out of the sky?

I’m okay with the federal min wage being calculated by geographic cost of living.
