It’s one of those things that made sense at the time, when there were 2.5 million people in the state instead of 40 million. Now instead of corporations buying legislators, they just write the laws themselves and pour money into advertising to convince people to vote for their legislation. It’s absolutely broken.

The threshold to trigger a recall needs to be much higher, and the default has to be that if the governor is recalled the lieutenant governor replaces them until the next scheduled election. The current system is ridiculous for a state that’s effectively the fifth or sixth largest economy in the world.
