Some do.
Some do.
Of course Pornhub weathered the storm. Internet porn was started by geeks, for geeks. And the geeks who run it know their core audience will more-or-less tolerate the occasional outage to Twitter or whatever, but will freak the fuck out and go all the-apocalypse-is-here if they can’t get to their porn.
“ExoMars, an ESA and Roscosmos-led mission to search for signs of geologic and biological activity on the Red Planet...”
If they pull this off, somebody at NASA should send them an e-mail...that the techies manipulated the time-date stamp to read July 20th, 1976.
They do shield satellites. But the stronger the electromagnetic field, the more shielding required. Satellites are shielded against the general viccitudes of existence in space, not against deliberate attack from a nuclear weapon’s EMP.
They shield it - but not to the degree necessary to withstand the EMP of a multi-hundred kiloton, or several megaton, nuclear bomb going off several thousand miles away, IIRC.
I’m going with “meh”. The Tsar Bomba and the Castle Bravo shot (“Castle Bravo” was the name of the test, not the weapon) and the other multi-megaton warheads we built were back when the thinking was bigger = better.
The EM pulse would pretty much fry the electronics of every satellite within the visible horizon unless they were shielded and/or had breakers that could trip fast enough to keep the current pulse caused by the EM wave from reaching the delicate parts.
Yeah - I meant AEC.
The DOE does make weapons - nuclear weapons are manufactured at DOE facilities. Many people just don’t know that. I wouldn’t be surprised if there are people in the DOE who don’t know that.
Does it come in black, and can I put some red LEDs in that space under the Toyota symbol on the front?
I couldn’t agree more. It makes no sense to keep hauling the same weight up into orbit if you don’t have to.
This is not Earth-shaking news. A Tesla is a computer with an electric engine and wheels.
Technically, it IS an autopilot. It can automatically pilot the vehicle within certain parameters - no different that the autopilot on an aircraft.
Hmmmm...I’m idly curious if she has a legal leg to stand on.
Actually, a paragraph marking of “C” doesn’t stand for “Classified”, it stands for “Confidential”.
My kids are going to be in for a rude awakening if they think they’ll be able to slip tech things by me. I’ve grown up with computers, I work with computers, I study computers. Sure, they’ll be able to sign up for online accounts I’ll have no way of knowing about - if they use another person’s device and never access…
Vegan anything is all but guaranteed to not taste as good as the animal product it replaces. If it’s a meat substitute, it’s also all but guaranteed to be crammed full of salt.
Nootropics represent, to me, a very interesting field of research. However, I think most people looking at supplemental nootropics should start with the basic nootropics:
“Many have concerns about the possible adverse effects of long-term use, as well as the ethics of using cognitive enhancers to gain an advantage in school, sports, or even everyday work.”

The potential effects of long-term use definitely need to be studied.
