Its so weird to me how people have such different experiences with mass produced devices. As a IT guy being able to look at my wrist and know if a alert was worth my time was huge. On top of that I got 2 days of use out of the watch on nearly every charge and never had any performance issues.

They have a perceived social value. As animals a strong bond to a social group gives security and increased chance to breed. Which is the whole reason we are alive. Kickstarter is a way to help some one else with a project thats the ONLY way people should look at it. At best you MIGHT get a product at a discount bearing in mind you most like will get a Alpha of a product.

This is the same problem that almost all of these projects do they think the idea is the hard part. Execution is all ways 5x harder then they imagine it will be. Makeing a consumer product from scratch is CRAZY expensive.

As a society this should not be a surprise for us. Lead pipe was used for a LONG time and even once it was found to be dangerous little was done to replace it because cost is more important. Most people know lead pipes where used but when you think about it how many do you know that where replaced?
