Wow, The Americans is on the main ITV channel? Cool. That's a great show. Is that unusual? I thought your primary channels exiled most American imports to digital sub-channels or weird late-night timeslots or let smaller channels like 5 take them? Is it because it has Matthew Rhys? Is he well-known?

Well, if Doctor Who can get 0.4-0.6 in adults 18-49 on Saturdays on BBC America, maybe AMC figures Hell on Wheels can do decent numbers on Saturdays too. The only problem is that Hell on Wheels isn't all that great (last I checked anyway). Is it? Oh, and AMC has higher standards than little tiny BBCA.

I figured it was a cultural or language issue, maybe? Do we know if they use a similar term en Español for "serial killer?" or if they don't even divide up their murderers into the same kind of categories? I guess they probably do, but I wasn't sure.

Do we think maybe the goon might be a suspect? The comedy sidekick qualities are just a ruse to throw us off!

I didn't notice any significant errors in this or any of your other posts, and I'd like to think I'm a decent proofreader. But maybe you already edited it by now.

I was very unimpressed with this finale and this entire season. I think I'm done with this deeply mediocre show.

NoScript is definitely the safest way to go in many cases, but it's such a pain in the donkus having to whitelist an infinite number of different scripts every time I go to every goddamn new site. Flashblock is probably the better choice in many situations, especially this situation, because presumably enabling one

We seem to have some tastes in common, so let me tell you, Jay, I was very skeptical for a long time about Adventure Time and all of its loud proselytizers around here. Then I watched a bunch of episodes and was totally assimilated. Now I am a crazy AT proselytizer. Resistance is bunk! Really, seriously, one of the

I was saying something like that a year ago, but I really think most of this half-season has been pretty decent. Well, except for "Saturday Morning Fun Pit." That was appalling.

Look at it this way: If it's a success and they produce more seasons, it'll keep Chibs away from Doctor Who!

I love Elba but if the choice was between those two, I'm glad it was Capaldi. Elba is a bit too intensely masculine and would make a better James Bond.

But most of the symbolism usually flies right over my oblivious head. This time even I got it. Lemme tell ya, if I can get it without any hints, it's really freaking blatant.

They're rerunning Farscape, starting from the beginning, in the U.S. on a new channel called Pivot (formerly Halogen, also taking over the Documentary Channel slot on satellite TV). It's channel 287 on Verizon Fios.

@avclub-832d86d3a05e2b4973c329471ee9d6c4:disqus I'll echo @avclub-50ab72edf41b9f05e0ce19bbaaaac9fc:disqus and say that if you're a big fan then you should definitely check out anything written by Paul Cornell or Kate Orman, who wrote some really amazing Doctor Who novels in the 90s. Admittedly a lot of the other

I watched all his episodes in the 90s on PBS. He wasn't really that fat. I mean, not compared to now. He could run around and fight bad guys and stuff. But yeah, I guess he was a little broad. He was just a big imposing dude all around, though.

Tom Baker and Colin Baker have both gotten pretty fat since leaving the role. Especially Colin. Isn't that good enough?

Don't worry, I'm betting they will add a young male companion for you to crush on, along the lines of Jamie McCrimmon (from the 60s) or Rory. Then that character will also handle some/most/all of the action scenes, too, as Jamie did for Patrick Troughton's Doctor.

"Maybe it’s best to think of 'The Visitation' as a dry run for his" failed attempts at "more complex efforts in the next couple of seasons."

Wow. I never noticed that.

I watched Lexx as it originally aired, and really enjoyed certain episodes, but I'm not sure I'd call myself a fan. It was fatally flawed in certain respects — in particular, Stanley was never a very appealing character for me, and I suspect for other viewers as well. Characterization in general was a problem for the
