Anyone home? I miss you guys. Who’s still around? What assholes abandoned CLT? What drama have I missed?
But I’ve been really busy at work, where I usually do all my internet browsing, that past couple months. I hear Gawker is being sold. Have we at Clashtalk descended into total apocalypse yet? If so please let me know what roles are still available. I assume all the good ones are taken but I’m hoping to at least get…
And I’ve been told his Off the Menu has been losing views on Thrillist. :( Poor kid.
The judge in Florida has upheld the verdict and amount.
I love when the internet decides to focus its outrage on one, supremely deserving suspect. Not that the person should be bullied or harassed; just that we should all discuss how much they suck.
I’m not sure how many readers of The Toast there are here on CLT, but for those regular readers and sometimes readers I’m here to share the sad news: The Toast will be closing up shop July 1. :( Wherever the women of The Toast go will be immensely improved by their presence. While they’re certainly not dead or dying,…
Does anyone still care about Genius News? I do. I love this. I love it because it makes no fucking sense. It made no sense when Denton did it. It makes even less sense now. A wise man learns from his mistakes. A wiser man learns from the mistakes of others.
We’re all shocked, right?
Tragie Egan Morrissey has a twitter thread today about sexism within Gawker during her time there. Click through for the full thread (worth the read) but here are some excerpts.
They’re asking some important questions on GT today that I thought CLT should maybe consider as well. Are we “done with sugar”? Should we start our own “Fuck you, Sugar” group? Or is CLT already a “Fuck you, Sugar” group?
A lot of ink has been spilled today reacting to the New York Supreme Court, New York County’s (Manhattan trial court) ruling against Kesha’s motion for a preliminary injunction. While it’s always great to see a rape victim receive so much support, much of what’s been written today is wrong. For starters, very few…
So my comment has been shared and there’s some more stuff that’s been added that is interesting (I think) but now lost in the thread. So let’s just all talk about poor Gawker’s numbers here.
Xylo has already shared an oppolock post with a lot of beautiful Alan Rickman discussion but I thought we could use a little CLT space of our own to lament the passing of such an incredible actor.
“The frats are chartering buses to pick women up from the houses and then they are driving them to a secret location,” Cindy texts. “How can we leave if we don’t know where we are? I don’t even like to drink and I don’t feel safe.”
I was at a craft fair yesterday and I saw these cute vases for $15. My first thought after seeing the price was ‘oh I could make that for much cheaper.’ My second was ‘oh dear god I have become my mother.’
This is anonymous and completely unverifiable but it’s an amazing story about the experience of being on a hung jury (and of being one of the two jurors that caused the hung jury).
This case hasn’t been talked about much at all in the media and public discourse since the allegations first came to light almost a year ago. But currently in OKC 12 (all white) jurors are deliberating on 36 charges including numerous counts of rape and sexual battery. 13 women accused Holtzclaw of sex crimes.
Background, I had to attend a course yesterday that was for people who had just passed the Maryland bar and were about to be sworn in as lawyers. For most there, this was their first bar and they were just embarking on becoming lawyers. For me, I’ve been a lawyer for a few years now and this was my third bar.
It’s really shaping up great so far.
I’ve been absent lately. Doing “work” and crap. So what’s new? It’s positively freezing in my office. I wish I had a lovely fireplace like this one to warm up in front of. Plus, I love the smell of a wood fire.
