It’s just a matter of semantics - the parasite will continue to live in a “healthy” host as the immune response will be affected by the parasite ie. the immune response will be diminished by the parasite doing sneaky things that trick your body into not thinking it’s there. It can mess up your immune system. The wiki

Hey- question for you. I was an FA in Canada, our liqour laws are that you can’t serve alcoholic beverages unopened. I’m guessing that’s not the case in the US? (Never flew out of the States.) So even though we gave away free cans of beer and those mini-bottles of wine, we had to open them before giving them to the

I don’t know what American liquor service laws are, but in Canada you can’t serve someone an unopened beer (unless of course you’re buying a 6-pack or whatever at a shop. So the whole thing seems funky.

But the whole thing was about it being UN-opened. You can do that with an opened soda can. It’s just ridiculous.

Someone with a good arm could wing it really hard? Or use it as a weight and smash someone’s face in? I don’t know, just throwing out stupid ideas.

It’s called being a member of society. We all contribute so that we all flourish. I am always bowled over how some people just don’t get that. Go live on a deserted island all by yourself then.

I am alarmist about birds. I fucking HATE birds, and I am alarmed any time one of those disgusting feathered monsters is around. ;)

Toxoplasmosis is a parasitic infection, so there is not “immunity” to build, as we do to viral infections.

A close friend manages a team that has several of this younger set (newly minted university grads, around 22-23) and she said it’s INSANE how much they expect the workplace to do FOR them. Most recent example (and totally best), one girl complained she didn’t receive a recognition award. My friend had to explain to

After reading this post I read Kipnis’ essay, and came here prepared to be unpopular in my opinion of support. Thankfully, after reading through the comments I breathe a sigh of relief that the world isn’t as dire as I had feared. The problem with the lawsuit and protest goes beyond feminism, it speaks to the level of

Alternate alternate option: Slice them and roast them in duck fat. And add crisp bacon or pancetta.

For people not used to being at elevation, that is def what I thought.

Granite > limestone is totally right wrt taste. Yay Canadian Shield!

I live near the mountains too - your Colorado friends are right! I wonder too, does the elevation have some factor in the headaches?

I love warm water! So funny. Even at work I have to have it a bit warm to get it down. I was cycling a bunch in AZ and the bike shop sold me on one of those chiller bottles. Didn’t like it. I must be in the minority though! On my side, I have heard, (could be bunk rumours, never looked into the science) that it’s

I found the tablets make me gag when I am already kind of sticky in the mouth from hard/lengthy running/cycling. I tried them on a Century ride and during a marathon, not good. I mean, it was good for my body, probably, but man, the pasty sticky gaggy stuff that happened made it not worth it.

I totally agree. If they are of sound mind. My grandma had Alzheimers and I know the kind of kooky things she would do. It’s hard to say that in the case of Alhzeimers dementia the elderly person wasn’t being manipulated, especially if no one else was around. silly things, like thinking the plumber who came by one day

But getting all pissy at someone that you have to be locked in a flying tin can with for possibly several hours doesn’t really solve anything, does it? As a parent, I can take someone saying, “Hey could you please get your uterus dropping from kicking my seat?” But if someone gets angry or rude, especially if they

That case made my heart sick. Still does. The video of leading little James away, gah. I want to tie my kids to me and never let them out of my sight.

It was a major deciding factor in moving the kids here for Mr.’s job.
